Saturday - 08 July 2023
The new BRM Boat Master Grand Pavois Limited Edition is exclusive to just 30 pieces and has been released in celebration of the French brand’s role as the official timekeeper for the Grand Pavois La Rochelle annual boat racing event
The Grand Pavois Rochelle boat race is an annual event that brings together sailing enthusiasts from around the world. The event lasts 6 days and within that time it is expected that around 100, 000 visitors and spectators will attend the race where 750 boats are exhibited, not to mention 300 afloat. The Grand Pavois Rochelle is among the world’s top 5 international boat shows and was created in 1973 by the Grand Pavois Organisation. Ever since then, it has remained an important event on the nautical calendar with professionals within the industry travelling across the world to attend it.
This year, French Watchmaker BRM was appointed the official timekeeper for the annual racing event and has released a special collection of watches that celebrates this milestone. Several 44m and 34mm BRM Boat Race watches have been launched in a range of brown, blue and black PVD-coated cases, with vibrantly accented dials in a rich blue colour that mirror waves and the movement of water as light hits its surface. In addition to these models, BRM has released a limited edition watch called the Boat Race Grand Pavois Limited Edition watch.
The new limited edition BRM Boat Master Grand Pavois watch will appeal to sailing enthusiasts. The chronograph manufacturer has produced the special watch in a run of just 30 pieces alongside a selection of bracelets that are inspired by the Grand Pavois La Rochelle. CEO of the brand, Bernard Richards expresses his enthusiasm for the new limited edition release as part of the refreshing Boat Master Collection: “The French manufacturer B.R.M Chronographes is very proud to be a partner with the Grand Pavois La Rochelle, one of the most beautiful and prestigious boat shows in France.”
Each one of the 30 new BRM Boat Master Grand Pavois Limited Edition watches will be displayed inside a special luxury presentation box, complete with its own identity plate. Similar to the designs of the watches from the standard non-limited collection, the watch features dark blue, red and white details on the display and captures the sporty racing spirit of the new line. The watch is crafted from one solid piece of stainless steel and has received a brushed surface effect that exudes a contemporary elegance once combined with the black PVD main body, with white lacquered bands running through its construction. The watch measures a confident 44mm diameter on the wrist. The Fortal HR shock absorbers incorporated into the design act as a defence for the automatic engine secured inside the watch, protecting it from shock and sudden impact. The crown located in the unusual place of 4 o’clock had received a red band that runs through its centre, pairing nicely with the red accents on the deep blue dial.
Time is easy to tell on the dial of the new BRM Boat Master Grand Pavois Limited Edition watch. The Arabic numerals on the hour track are characterised in white, whilst the 12, 4 and 8 o’clock locations are represented in a mix of two colours – blue and white or red and white. A minute track is provided around the edge of the dial on the flange where a mix of markers and circular-coloured dots help you as the wearer to keep track of time perfectly.
Inside the case of the new BRM Boat Master Grand Pavois Limited Edition watch is the automatic 2824-2 movement, which performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of 38 hours once fully wound. The sapphire crystal glass protects the surface of the dial, including its red and white date window at 6 o’clock from damage caused by denting, scratching, heat, moisture and light damage and has been treated with anti-glare technology to assist with a clear view into the dial whenever needed.
One of the appealing features of this limited edition Boat Master watch from BRM is its unusual red springs featured in the corners of the dial. The watch is also fitted with BRM’s new range of Hypalon rubber straps. The material, which is normally used for making diving suits and life jackets, proves to be the perfect material for those looking to take this watch out on the sea. The Hypalon strap has a woven-inspired pattern and is finished in a deep blue for this model, complete with contrast stitching in red and white down the sides and a stainless steel clasp to secure comfortably around the wrist.
