Meet the New Garmin MARQ II Adventurer Damascus Steel

The new Garmin MARQ II Adventurer Damascus Steel smartwatch boasts a design made from layers of forged and folded steel for maximum strength and a bright AMOLED display for effortless access to superior navigational features and health & fitness-related apps.

The MARQ II Range

Garmin’s foray into the world of premium, high-end smartwatches is the MARQ II, with a design language on par with a luxury analogue. It’s also a rather unique range compared to the rest of the brand’s portfolio since each model within the collection appeals to a different wearer. The MARQ II Aviator will provide you with weather reports for different airports, while the MARQ II Captain has a regatta timer on the bezel for seafaring ventures. On the other hand, you have the MARQ II Adventurer with a 360-degree rotating bezel compass, topographical map support, superb GPS capabilities and a lightweight grade 5 titanium case. But one particularly appealing feature of the MARQ II smartwatch range is the recent launch of the Damascus Steel version of the MARQ II Adventurer. We’re going to take a closer look at that model and what it offers now.

The Design

The MARQ II Adventurer Damascus Steel is a design for the modern world. Its stunning 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen has a domed sapphire crystal lens for complete protection and a selection of easy-to-use buttons for performing tasks effortlessly under the fingertips. Since this is a watch primed for the modern adventurer, the MARQ II watch works in any environment. Its Damascus steel case measures a very confident 46mm diameter, creating a huge wrist presence and a compass-style bezel that completes its outdoor-ready aesthetic.

Since the materials selected for the Garmin MARQ II Adventurer play such an important role in this design, it’s worth noting just how sophisticated the manufacturing process behind the watch is. For the case, two types of steel are forged together. The folding of the materials is what gives the smartwatch its strength. The process is repeated several times to improve the toughness of the case. Wondering how the Damascus steel gets its unique surface pattern? The material is then twisted to create the stealthy tool’s distinctive wavy aesthetic. For those who aren’t aware, Damascus steel is known for its strength and its ability to create sleek, crisp edges. There is no denying that the sharp lines of the stealthy MARQ II watch certainly add to its appeal. Garmin experts also implement the watch with a brown stain and sweat-resistant leather and FKM rubber band to conclude the watch’s strong and stylish design.

Navigation

As its name would suggest, the Garmin MARQ II Adventurer is all about exploration and pushing the boundaries of pursuit. Garmin equips the watch with several navigational features that will enable you to keep your bearings. The watch comes with a ClimbPro ascent planner that shows you real-time information about upcoming climbs, elevation levels, and gradient distance. Also, an Acclimation widget correlates elevation data with health-related metrics like heart rate and respiration rate. The watch’s Expedition app will allow you to extend your travels with improved battery life, while the Multicontinent TopoGraphic maps across Europe enable you to view terrain types on your course, as well as elevations, summits, coasts, rivers, lakes and other geographical features. Always ensure you can return to your starting point with the watch’s Round-Trip routing feature by entering your desired distance and choosing from a selection of recommended routes. As well as the watch’s Turn-By-Turn Navigation, Ski Maps and Golf Course features, the MARQ II Adventurer Damascus Steel smartwatch also features an electronic 3-axis compass, barometer and altimeter, as well as the orienteering capability of the bezel. Additionally, the Adventurer smartwatch features multi-band GSS and SatIQ technology for superior accuracy positioning, wherever you are in the world.

Health & Fitness

No Gamin watch would be a Garmin watch without the added benefit of the brand’s plethora of health and fitness-related features to enjoy. It’s nice to see that in a watch so focused on exploration and outdoor ventures, the health and fitness features have, by no means, been pushed aside. From checking HRV status to planning an entire workout, every task is backed by the MARQ II watch’s state-of-the-art suite of wellness features. Some of these include swimming, surfing, hiking, biking, running and indoor climbing apps, not to mention a health snapshot feature that displays information like your heart rate, Pulse OX, respiration and stress levels. You can also use the Morning Report feature to measure things like your training readiness and the weather. This feature is joined by a Jet Lag Advisor for travel, an Endurance Score feature and a Hill score feature for measuring your V02 max, heart rate, and stress for improvement tracking.

A Sleep Score feature, Advanced Nap Detection and Sleep Monitoring features are other useful advantages, as are the watch’s Stress Tracking and Body Battery features. Of course, you can also use the MARQ II watch’s Garmin Coach feature to create daily personalised workouts and create further plans based on your performance and improvement.

Aside from its huge array of smartwatch features, the unique aesthetic of the Damascus Steel Garmin watch, along with its strength and robustness make the MARQ II Adventurer one of the toughest yet most sophisticated smartwatches to own.
