Introducing the new Junghans Fein Automatic Watch
Friday - 30 December 2022
Junghans has released a new Fein Automatic watch to follow on from its 2021 release marking 160 years of German watchmaking. Its warm and elegant persona is the perfect personality for purists, embracing the wrist with a classic and understated black leather strap.
Last year, Junghans released the Fein Automatic watch to mark 160 years of authentic watchmaking. By commemorating this important milestone and paying homage to its esteemed history, this elegant and modern timepiece proved popular amongst Junghans fans. It featured a beautiful convex mid-case that created an alluring silhouette on the wrist. The three-handed automatic watch evoked the past but also added a contemporary touch to timekeeping and was made available with a silver dial (either with a mesh-style metal bracelet or a black leather band) or a black dial (with a brown leather strap).
The new Junghans Fein Automatic watch is an elegant 39.5mm model crafted from stainless steel with a luxurious rose gold PVD coating to inject a sense of indulgence and opulence into the wrist. The timepiece embodies a sense of elegance and refinement above all, yet its core design is ergonomically developed to ensure ultimate wearer comfort.
Over the years, Junghans has been upholding a reputation within the luxury watch industry for partnering with the likes of famed Swiss architect and designer, Max Bill. In doing so, the brand created an entire category of Bauhaus-style wristwatches with a distinct minimalism. It also has a rich heritage in creating its own chronometer-certified movements to look back on, as well as developing timekeeping instruments for the sporting world. For more information on this, take a look at the brand’s latest sports watch release, the new 1972 Competition Limited Edition watches in 18ct white gold (limited to 50 pieces) and stainless steel (limited to 1,972 pieces). The new Junghans Fein Automatic watch, however, follows in the footsteps of the German watchmaker’s popular Bauhaus school of design-inspired timepieces. Its proportions, size and design all meld together to form a wristwatch that can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
The new Junghans Fein Automatic watch
The new Junghans Fein Automatic watch offers the same spherically domed sapphire crystal glass profile that has features in others in the past. This, along with the case, creates its unique convex shape. Crafted from stainless steel with a luxurious rose gold PVD coating, the case measures a diameter of 39.5mm and a height of 10.3mm. It’s also 50-meter water resistant and features a mineral glass caseback that shows off the movement’s architecture and performance as it works. The Fein Automatic watch also features short lugs once again, that lead to a classic-looking black leather strap, securing with a stainless steel buckle that has been engraved with the Junghans logo.
As mentioned, previously the dial of the Fein Automatic watch has been offered in a silver-plated version with a sunray finish, a matte silver-plated version and a black galvanised version with a sunray finish. To avoid interrupting the dial, the date windows were executed in the same colour, to blend into their respective dial shades. This new Junghans Fein Automatic watch presents the time on a polished white dial adorned with the same familiar elongated hour markers that appear needle-fine in a crisp black colour. The fine baton-shaped central hour and minute hands have been executed in a golden colour to match the finish on the case. A fine second hand stretches right out to kiss the base of each hour marker. The dial is also equipped with a legible date window at 3 o’clock, along with the famous Junghans lettering and motif at 12 o’clock.
Inside the case of the new Junghans Fein Automatic watch is the self-winding movement J800.1, which provides a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement is based on the ETA 2824-2 movement and performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The movement boasts rhodium-plated decoration, a rotor with a striped finish and the engraved company logo, along with a balance wheel bridge with a diamond finish, a wheel train, blued screws and a barrel.
