The New 34mm TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph Watches
Thursday - 01 February 2024
Released in time for LVMH Watch Week, TAG Heuer launches a compact 34mm Aquaracer Professional 200 watch that isn’t just reserved for women.
Why are more and more people investing in solar-powered watches? Well, to answer that question we only need to look towards the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Solar watches. The brand has released a slew of avant-garde dive watches in time for LVMH that embody all the characteristics that we love about the line but with new interesting dial colours.
Alongside the brand’s synonymous links with the motorsport industry and Formula 1 racing teams, it also dedicates a huge proportion of its time to perfecting the modern-day dive watch. These new releases are perfect examples of where the brand pitches itself at the moment – right at the forefront of solar-powered wristwatch technology.
Solar-powered watches are cost-effective and environmentally friendly. They require no battery replacements and are a preferred choice to automatic and mechanical watches for those who are partial to quartz-operated timepieces. Solar watches will use energy from natural and artificial light to power the watch, oftentimes these state-of-the-art watches last months without needing to be recharged.
There are enough reasons to suggest why solar-powered watches are becoming increasingly popular, but if you want more, read on to discover the latest Aquaracer releases from TAG Heuer.
The New TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph Watches with a Mid-size Case
The first Solargraph variant of the Aquaracer line was launched in 2022. TAG Heuer was sure to promote the watch and its uses very accurately. It was a modern, robust and reliable timekeeping tool that packed in a whole load of sporty character. Since then, the series has expanded and there are no prizes for guessing why. With stainless steel and titanium options to choose from, the range has become pretty diverse.
This year at LVMH, the La Chaux de Fonds watchmaker has released a compact 34mm option. Five different configurations offer plenty of choice to enjoy this sporty, durable water-friendly option. Although the smaller of the two is a new size, the design codes of the watch have been kept very much the same as the rest of the line. All but the bezel, that is, which features a slightly bolder and ornate appearance. The trapezoid-shaped markers are raised to stand out in between the 10-minute markers. If you’re familiar with the Aquaracer line-up, you’ll already know that the other models feature a flat octagonal-shaped bezel.
Sporty, Stylish and Made of Steel
The five new 34mm TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph watches all promise a 200-meter water resistance. Whether you’re showering after a session at the gym, white water rafting, or snorkelling in the Caribbean - this watch has you covered for all eventualities. All of the models have a linear brushing applied to their stainless steel profiles, adding to their sport-esque styling. They also measure a depth of 9.7mm on the wrist and feature sapphire crystal glass tops for ample protection over their various coloured dials.
The shape of each case is accentuated by polished bevels along the lugs that catch the light beautifully. Attached to these lugs is an integrated stainless steel bracelet. The three-link bracelets provide a snug fit against the wrist with a foldable clasp engraved with the TAG Heuer shield. A double push-button mechanism releases the bracelet from the wrist safely but quickly. On top of this, the design of these new Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph 34mm watches benefit from a comfort extension system.
Flipping the case of the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph 34mm watches over to their reverse side will reveal a solid steel caseback. That conceals an automatic movement behind it. The TH50-01 solar-powered quartz movement has been exclusively produced for the brand by La Joux-Perret. Since it can charge itself using natural light, it requires just 2 minutes to supply energy for the watch to last an entire day. Once fully charged (a process that takes less than 40 hours), the watch can run for an impressive ten months without needing to be recharged.
The Options
The new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Solargraph 34mm watches, as mentioned, come in five different variations. The most classic of all is the reference WBP1311.BA0005, which features a deep blue sunray dial and polar blue/turquoise accents that lift the dial to a whole other level. Adopting this colour wholly across its dial is the reference WBP1311.BA0005, with a finish that looks almost iridescent. Then there are the mother-of-pearl dials - three models that evoke femininity with elegant finishes and diamond dot detailing.
The reference WBP1311.BA0005 features no diamond detailing at all, while the top end of the range is the reference WBP1311.BA0005 with diamonds set into the dial and the surrounding bezel. Lastly, a happy medium – the reference WBP1311.BA0005 with glistening diamond set hour markers against its mother-of-pearl display.
Beneath the blue, turquoise and mother-of-pearl dials of this new Aquaracer Professional 200 watch by TAG Heuer is a solar panel that traps enough light to generate power within the watch. Considering the complexity of constructing the mother-of-pearl dials without a metal sheet behind them to retain their lustre, this was no mean feat.
They Have a Unisex Appeal
At one time, a 34mm model would have been considered a women’s watch, without doubt. The current shift in watch trends, however, suggests that males are once again adopting smaller sizes in the way that vintage watches were once worn. That’s great news for you if you’re a man and you like the look of the blue and turquoise models. If not, the mother-of-pearl models with make a great option for female sports watch fans.
