Seiko Releases Two New Presage Cocktail Time Watches – the “Beer Julep” and “Half & Half”

The new “Beer Julep” and “Half and Half” watches from Seiko’s Presage watch collection tell the time on gradient dials that evoke the textures and colours of popular Japanese cocktails.
If you’re after a retro sports watch, something from the Seiko Presage collection might be your option. The collection is largely based on an important model from 1913 – the Seiko Laurel. Interestingly, it was only made available worldwide in 2016, adding to a huge demand. Before then, they were reserved for the Japanese market. The Seiko Presage collection is known for its in-house manufactured movements and its elegant designs that are often inspired by historical references. The entry-point watches are where you’ll find models like the Cocktail Time, which landed on the market in 2010. Now Seiko has expanded the series once again to feature the Cocktail Time “Beer Julep” and “Half & Half” models.
The Cocktail Time Series
If you’ve ever taken a good look at Seiko’s offerings from within the Cocktail Time collection, you’ll notice that they all share radiant textures and unusual colour palettes. The creations here are inspired by the concoctions innovated by mixologist, Shinobu Ishigaki, owner of Star Bar in Tokyo. Over the years, we’ve seen cool ice blue shades, sweet chocolate brown tones and dry champagne hues – all inspired by flavoursome cocktails. The latest tasty tipples to inspire the new Seiko Presage Cocktail Time watches are Japanese ale, stout, gin and whisky.
Gradient Dials
The two new Seiko Presage Cocktail Time “Beer Julep” and “Half and Half” watches boast gradient dials that evoke the look of these drinks as if viewing the glass from the side. The layers of liquid are interpreted through the different shades of the display, where time can be read easily and classically.

First up is the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time “Half and Half” ref SRPK48 with a creamy gold centre. Gradually, the light golden tones of the dial darken towards the edge, creating a shade that is close to black around the very outer perimeter. Capturing the rich and smooth flavours of this full-bodied cocktail, the display features gold baton indexes and matching hands. Protecting the surface of the dial is a boxed Hardlex glass front that not only protects the surface of the display from damage but creates a vintage-inspired finish to the watch.
The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time “Beer Julep” ref SRPK46 characterises a cocktail that features a mix of lemon, sugar syrup, basil leaves, gin and whiskey. The fragrant drink is represented by golden and silver shades that start off dark at the bottom and lighten towards the top. The model’s baton indexes are gold and are matched beautifully by gold central hands and a gold-trimmed date window at 3 o’clock.
The rest of the features I’m going to list now are shared between both of the new Seiko Presage Cocktail Time “Beer Julep” and “Half and Half” watches. These include a 40.5mm case crafted from yellow gold-plated stainless steel and a water-resistant rating of 50 meters. They also feature dauphine-shaped central hands and black printing for the Seiko and Presage lettering.
In addition to this, both models wear the same with a shared depth of 11.8mm. They’re both powered by the same movement too. The Calibre 4R35 provides an accuracy of +45 / -35 seconds per day and delivers a power reserve once fully wound of 41 hours. The movement also provides a date window at 3 o’clock for keeping track of the passing days of each month.
Perhaps the only other thing to talk about is the metal bracelets that are fitted to these designs. The new Seiko Presage Cocktail Time “Beer Julep” and “Half & Half” watches are equipped with a five-link yellow gold-coated stainless steel bracelet. They both secure comfortably to the wrist with a folding clasp mechanism, making each of the models a great option for pairing with elegant and formal attire.
