Friday - 24 June 2022
The new Supermarine S300 Kaimu and Vigo watches from Bremont come in respective black and white aesthetics. These black and silver dialled timepieces feature rose gold indexes and hands, along with the company’s multi-layered sapphire crystal glass front and patented Trip Tick case technology that helps ensure a reliable 300-meter water resistance for plenty of underwater use.
Qualities of the Bremont Supermarine S300 watch
Bremont Supermarine watches respond to any call to action with their robust cases, their patented Trip Tick case constructions and their chronometer-tested movements. Together, these factors form a timepiece that fulfils any professional diving requirements. Those from the S300 sub-category respond to the need for a slightly smaller and more compact case size. The Type 300 range by Bremont is inspired by 1930s aircraft company, Supermarine and one of Britain’s most iconic aircraft – the Spitfire. Some other key features of a Bremont Supermarine watch are its multi-layered anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass front, which grants a clear view into the dial whilst under direct sunlight or artificial lighting, and a hardened stainless steel case, proven to be seven times harder than that of standard steel. To reach this standard of robustness, the stainless steel case is heat-treated before being diffused with carbon. After that, it is bombarded with electrons, which hardens the material and increases its scratch resistance.
To assist with visibility in all conditions, the dial of a Bremont Supermarine watch can have as many as 20 coats of Super-LumiNova paint applied to its surface. The aforementioned Trip Tick case construction is Bremont’s patented bodywork that has its own DNA. Whilst the vast majority of other luxury watch brands on the market have a two-piece case construction, Bremont’s cases comprise three pieces. The ability to create cases this way ensures that Bremont watches can look unique amongst other standard watch designs. The lugs appear to melt over the sides of the case bezel in an elegant and beautiful way that resembles the edge of a wing section. Machined independently, the pieces of a Bremont case developed under the patented Trip Tick technology comprise of the case bezel, the case middle and the caseback.
The new Bremont Supermarine S300 Kaimu and S300 Vigo watches
The new Bremont Supermarine S300 Kaimu and S300 Vigo watches are both inspired by beautiful and dramatic coastlines. The S300 Kaimu watch reflects the stunning Kaimu beach in Hawaii with its black volcanic sandy shoreline located in the Puna district. The ocean’s current and its waves make it too strong for snorkelling or swimming, adding to its dramatic and interesting atmosphere, particularly since the beach is going through a continuous cycle of destruction and rebirth after the shoreline was hit by the eruption of the Kilauea volcano in 1990.
The Bremont Supermarine S300 Vigo watch takes inspiration from a Spanish coastline in north-western Spain. Here, the white sands and crystal clear waters create an idyllic location against bright blue skies as a backdrop. This location harks back to a point in the Bremont brothers’ childhood where both Nick and Giles visited aboard the Lady K – a sailboat built by their father as a gift to their mother which also inspired the design of another watch in Bremont’s catalogue. Both models follow in the form of the newer Bremont Supermarine S300 watch architecture and come in a 40mm diameter and a depth of 13mm, giving them an all-around slimmer case design.
Both Bremont Supermarine watches have a stainless steel Trip Tick case construction with a scratch-resistant PVD treated case barrel, along with a unidirectional rotating bezel that helps assist with measuring elapsed time whilst underwater. The S300 Kaimu watch has a black ceramic bezel insert with polished raised hour markers and a luminous hour marker at 12 o’clock. The S300 Vigo watch has a white ceramic bezel finished in the same design. Both new Supermarine watches from Bremont also feature a screw-down crown. Turning the watch over reveals a caseback engraved with a new subtle wave pattern. You can also choose between a stainless steel bracelet for each model or a respective black or white alligator embossed leather strap.
Inside the 300-meter water-resistant case of both the Supermarine S300 Kaimu and Vigo watch is the modified Calibre BE-92AV, which comprises a total of 25 jewels, a Glucydur balance wheel, an Anachron balance spring and a Nivaflex mainspring. The automatic movement performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of 38 hours once fully wound. Upon the respective black and silver dials of the Kaimu and Vigo watches are rose gold-plated hands filed with Super-LumiNova and hour markers executed in the same material to match. The 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock locations are filled with blue emission luminous material and the dial also features a minute track and a date window at 3 o’clock.
