Perrelet Weekend GMT Green Watches Review
Thursday - 13 July 2023
It’s impossible for the new Perrelet Weekend watches to go unnoticed while clad in their vivid grass green dials and polished cases in stainless steel. The brand even offers them in a more luxurious rose gold PVD coating. The entrancing shade of green chosen for the model adds a new spin to the Weekend collection, which is usually home to classic models in black, silver and blue. Meet the new Perrelet Weekend GMT watch in green.
The Swiss brand founded in 1777 by Abraham-Louis Perrelet, is known worldwide for creating the world’s first automatic watch and over the years has evolved and grown to offer a huge selection of different styles and designs – one of them being the Weekend collection, which was launched in 2019. The second edition of the Weekend watch was released a year later in 2020 and is characterised by its contemporary design but with an understated retro touch. You could say that the design of the Weekend watch combines the more widely recognised, sporty Turbine watch with the casual chic look of the LAB watch. Either way, it is clear to see that Perrelet watches from the Weekend series are certainly venturing into a more exciting realm of colour.
We covered the simple three-handed date models in the same green colour here in this article. But today we will be looking at the Weekend GMT watch, which has been released alongside an elegant Weekend Open Heart model. All three designs are offered in a stainless steel case option with a choice between a black leather band or a matching stainless steel bracelet, or you can opt for a rose gold PVD-coated steel option with a black leather strap.
The new Perrelet Weekend GMT watch
The new green Weekend GMT watch from Perrelet is a perfect travel companion this summer. Its user-friendly design is dressy but not understated, so if you’re looking for a watch that’s going to get you a little bit of attention, you’ve chosen right with the Weekend GMT green model. The watch shares many characteristics with the 3 Hands watch, including a classically rounded case crafted from stainless steel that measures 39mm in diameter. It also features a central hour, minute and second hand and a date window that is located at 3 o’clock.
Here is where the watch is different, however. It features a red triangular-tipped GMT hand that points to an inner 24 scale. This scale looks almost embossed onto the green dial, with numerals that are executed in a bright white colour to stand out. Slim stick markers make up the hour track, alongside a double stick marker at 12 o’clock. As mentioned, the Weekend GMT watch in green is offered in a stainless steel case with a black leather band or an option on a stainless steel bracelet. Alternatively, you can opt for the rose gold PVD-coated version in a classic black leather strap.
Whisky green has become a popular dial colour over recent years, but this particular shade of green chosen by Perrelet experts is a distinctive one and is grass-like in colour, constituting the perfect model for the coming summer months. The automatic movement that sits inside the watch is the Calibre P-321, which provides a 42-hour power reserve once fully wound.
Not likely to be overshadowed by the Turbine or LAB watches anymore, the Perrelet Weekend GMT watch is a perfect travel companion and dress watch all rolled into one. Whether you plan to track an additional timezone with the watch or just love the style of a GMT model, the three new green dial options for this sub-category are perfect examples of the watchmaker’s bold and daring approach to classic watchmaking.
