It was the mid-1960s when Oris officially put itself on the map for producing quality dive watches, yet the Oris Aquis collection itself has only been around since 2011. The popular line is renowned for housing reliable, robust and modern dive watches that promise great value for money. The new Oris Aquis Date 36.5mm Pearl Dial watches
New for 2022 are three Oris Aquis Date watches housed inside a 36.5mm case. The trio of elegant dive watches follow on from the red rotor brand’s Aquis New York Harbor Limited Edition, inspired by the murky green waters of the harbour with a captivating green mother of pearl dial. Now, Oris releases a Blush Pink, Aegean Blue, and Seafoam Green colourway – each one faithfully following the formula of the much-loved Oris Aquis. They each boast an oversized bezel, a double-domed sapphire crystal glass front, large rounded lugs, screwed-on crown guards and an integrated stainless steel bracelet to enjoy with smart, formal or even professional attire. This recipe has been enjoyed in many of the brand’s limited edition models, though this time, these new Oris Aquis Date 36.5mm pearl models are the non-limited type and will join the brand’s current catalogue of delights, along with the earlier Oris Aquis Date Upcycle watch.
With help from a screw-down crown, the new Oris Aquis Date 36.5mm pearl dial models uphold an impressive 300-meter water resistance and feature a case depth of 12.5mm. Producing a beautiful, hypnotic effect across the surface of each dial is a striated pattern that catches the light uniquely in renders. Aquis-style hour markers are also present across the dial and are highly polished to interact beautifully under natural or artificial lighting. The tapering central hour and minute hands are accompanied by a lollipop second hand and have been treated with a layer of Super-LumiNova to enhance readability when referencing the time under dark depths of the ocean or during the night. One clue to the Oris Calibre 733 is, of course, the location of the date display, positioned in its usual place at 6 o’clock. You can admire the workings of the Oris 733 movement through the rear of the case via a mineral glass caseback, including the modified movement’s signature red rotor.
It is clear that Oris is exploring boundaries when it comes to manufacturing dive watches with less conventional dial colours. Trends within the watch industry are gravitating towards pastel colours for the male audience, so it would be ignorant to think that these three new Oris Aquis Date 36.5mm watches are intended solely for women. Far from it, in fact, seen as the 36.5mm case size is more than adequate for those males with slenderer wrists.
