New for 2023: Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman 41 Watches

With khaki green and black dials and a choice of a wave-effect rubber strap or a robust stainless steel bracelet, the new Khaki Navy Frogman 41 watches for 2023 are ready for action with their unidirectional rotating bezels and luminous markers for maximum legibility.
If you’ve ever needed a dive watch or a sports watch in the past, you’ll no doubt have explored Hamilton’s Khaki Navy watch collection. The entire line pays homage to navy watches of the 1940s and sits alongside Hamilton’s diverse Khaki Aviation and Khaki Field collection. Pretty much every wristwatch within this sub-series pays homage to the company’s roots in supplying wristwatches to the military. Since 1914, the American military has been making good use of Hamilton’s Khaki watches, mainly those from the Khaki Navy category. The series is home to a plethora of water-resistant watches based on the marine chronometers it supplied to the Navy many years ago. These watches were deployed in combat during the Second World War and served as an integral piece of kit for performing important missions and completing operations with.
Within the Hamilton Khaki Navy watch collection is the Scuba line. We covered two other newcomers to this line not so long ago – the Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Quartz watch and the new Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba Auto watch. Both have a very similar design characterised by a unidirectional rotating bezel, luminous markers and hands and a strong sapphire crystal glass front that protects an inner 24-hour scale. Belonging to the wider Hamilton Khaki Navy series is the Navy Frogman sub-category. The name refers to the tactical and military divers that use them. Its design dates back to the Second World War when Hamilton was already upholding a reputation for supplying accurate and reliable instruments to the US Navy. Then came along a near-on indestructible watch that could be utilized by the US Navy’s Underwater Demolition Team – the Hamilton Frogman.
In 2022, the brand ambassador for Hamilton, Pierre Frolla sported a redesigned Frogman watch on his wrist. Its updated design language made it a perfect fit for Frolla’s record-breaking career, having broken a record in reaching 73 meters underwater in Free Immersion and his work as Director of the Sea Academy, where new goals are constantly being set. Following on from the 2022 Frogman, the new-for-2023 model is available in four different options; a black dial with black waved rubber strap reference H77455330, a black dial with stainless steel bracelet reference H77485130, a black dial on green waved rubber strap reference H77455331 and a green option with a black waved rubber band reference H77455360.
The new Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman 41 watches
All four of the new Khaki Navy Frogman 41 watches from Hamilton measure a 41mm diameter and a height of 13.09mm. The models are all crafted from stainless steel in a brushed effect and all offer a water resistance of 300 meters. Designed for plenty of underwater activity, the black and green dial options have been treated to a visible 12 o’clock Arabic numeral at the top of the dial, followed by legible stick hour markers for the remaining locations. These, along with the arrow-tipped hour hand and the tapering minute hand, have been treated with lashings of Super-LumiNova material. The same can be said for the orange arrow motif at the top of the second hand and the luminous pip at 12 o’clock on the bezel. All of the new Frogman dive watches from Hamilton offer the wearer a unidirectional rotating bezel in black. The toothed finish along the edge of the bezel has been designed to aid grip under heavy diving gear, whilst a 60-minute scale can be aligned with the minute hand to measure elapsed time easily when underwater.
The new Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman 41 watches forego a date window or any other additional information that can distract the wearer from straightforward timekeeping. Only the lettering above the 6 o’clock location denoting the “Automatic 300M” words can be seen in bright orange. The screw-down crown at the 3 o’clock location on the robust stainless steel case of the new Frogman watch by Hamilton is shielded by a robust bridge-shaped crown guard in steel to prevent it from getting knocked whilst in action. The Hamilton H-10 Calibre that powers away inside the strong case of the new Hamilton Frogman watch is adapted from the ETA CO7.611 movement and provides an impressive 80-hour power reserve. It also comes equipped with a Nivachron hairspring that offers excellent shock resistance. The movement performs at a rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour and is concealed behind a solid stainless steel caseback.
To finish the Frogman’s mission-ready aesthetic, three out of the four watches are fitted on a black or green wave-effect rubber band that is intended to echo the movement of the sea. These rubber straps secure to the back of the wrist with a stainless steel pin buckle that is stamped with the Hamilton logo. The fourth model with a black dial and stainless steel link bracelet secures with a folding clasp.
