Meet the Raymond Weil Freelancer GMT Worldtimer 2765 Watches
Sunday - 05 February 2023
Brimming with refinement and rich in details, the new Raymond Weil Freelancer GMT Worldtimer 2765 is perhaps the most legible and most user-friendly worldtimer watch to own this year. Released at the back end of last year, the Swiss watch manufacturer whose Freelancer watch is the company's flagship model launched a dial that has been beautifully balanced following all the essential elements a worldtimer complication could need. Alongside this? The normal timekeeping features of the humble Freelancer watch.
You can purchase this new Raymond Weil Freelancer GMT Worldtimer 2765 watch for an affordable price tag, simply because it’s a Raymond Weil watch and that’s what Raymond Weil does. It crafts affordably priced, reliable and highly-durable timepieces that are perfect for wearing every day without compromising on materials or features. The new model will make a perfect gift idea for someone special this year and comes in a choice of two dial colours and case finishes. There’s the green-coloured Raymond Weil Freelancer GMT Worldtimer watch with an enticing olive-green dial and a stainless steel case, then there’s the stealthy black variant – a black dial with a black DLC-coated stainless steel case and a black-coloured strap to compliment it. Both models, although different colours, are practically identical in style. Of course, describing them as GMT watches with a green dial and black dial alone does not do the Freelancer watch justice at all, since the proportions of the dial are perfectly balanced to ensure that main timekeeping elements can be just as easily accessed as the worldtimer readings. The green and black dials are also executed in a gradient finish, boasting a lighter centre that transitions into a darker edge around the periphery of the display where the 24 world cities can be seen.
The black version of the new Raymond Weil Freelancer GMT Worldtimer 2765 watch is almost cockpit instrument-inspired, whilst the green dial version is adorned with striking bronze elements that create a subtle vintage feel. Even though there is a lot of information to fit into the dial of this watch, it remains very cleverly proportioned with the usual hours represented around the hour track in stick markers that have been treated with Super-LumiNova to match the central hour and minute hands. The second hand is designed in a lollipop style with a luminous pip, whilst the GMT hand is red-coloured with an arrow-shaped tip to stand out from the rest of the dial. Daytime and nighttime hours are executed in light and dark shades in both models to differentiate the two parts of the day around the inner 24-hour scale. The London location on the city track is highlighted with a red coloured marker to coordinate with the GMT hand and the dial also features a date window at 6 o’clock.
User-friendliness in a GMT watch
Both of the two Raymond Weil Freelancer GMT Worldtimer 2765 watches function in a different way to a usual worldtimer watch. You don’t need to pull the bronze and black DLC-coated crown out of the cases to move the internal time zone bezel. Instead, all you need to do is use the GMT hand to track the second time zone constantly. But if, for example, you need to know the time at three destinations at once, this is equally just as simple. You unscrew the 4 o’clock globe-engraved crown and align the local city on the bezel with the current hour hand. From there you can read off the remaining 23 cities as and whenever you need to.
A reliable automatic movement
The automatic movement that sits inside the case of the Raymond Weil Freelancer GMT Worldtimer 2765 watch is the RW3230 movement based on a Sellita calibre. It produces a power reserve of 44 hours and comprises a total of 47 jewels. This movement sits inside the 100-meter water-resistant case of this watch which spans a total diameter on the wrist of 40.5mm. The movement can also be viewed through the back of a sapphire crystal glass exhibition case but instead of featuring the usual water-resistant rating information on the steel that surrounds this section, it has been stamped on an angled ledge to afford a better view of the movement. Lastly, the deep green and black leather straps of these respective GMT Worldtimer watches from Raymond Weil have been made to fit the curve of the case as opposed to featuring a straight edge.
