Introducing the new DOXA SUB 300T Whitepearl Watch
Friday - 29 April 2022
DOXA, the cult favourite dive watch brand now releases the SUB 300T watch in Whitepearl
Destined to incite a sense of excitement amongst DOXA dive watch fans – especially those eagerly anticipating the arrival of summer – the new DOXA SUB 300T Whitepearl watch is certainly set to draw in a lot of attention. DOXA is known for its adventurous spirit with colour, so fans of the white and black colour scheme will be in for a treat with the all-new DOXA 300T Whitepearl watch for 2022. Preceding the Whitepearl colourway that first raised its head in 2021, DOXA had already unveiled watches in 6 other bold colours; Orange Professional, Silver Searambler, Black Sharkhunter, Navy-blue Caribbean, Yellow Divingstar, and Turquoise Aquamarine. The Whitepearl is a neutral addition to the SUB 300T line, yet its crisp and clean aesthetic makes a huge impact on the wrist, featuring a black and white colourway that feels as bold as ever.
DOXA SUB 300T watches are reinterpretations of the 1968 SUB 300T Conquistador – the first consumer-grade dive watch to feature a helium escape valve. Today’s DOXA SUB 300T watch goes without the helium escape valve, proving that you don’t need one to deep-sea dive or snorkel around the coral reefs on holiday. The watch is equipped with a patented unidirectional rotating bezel in black to match the dial’s black hour markers and hands. The dive watch icon takes you down to 1200 meters underwater. In this same vein and with a clear retro styling upon its dial – the new DOXA 300T Whitepearl watch has all the key signature design features that the modern 300T watch has become so sought-after for, including an oversized minute hand and lashings of luminous material for expert timekeeping in dark conditions.
The new DOXA SUB 300T Whitepearl watch
The DOXA SUB 300T Whitepearl watch is a robust and highly functional dive tool for professional and amateur divers, as well as those belonging to the dive watch community that just love the style and iconic design of the retro 1970s “dive tool” look. It features an asymmetrical positioning of the DOXA automatic lettering in black at 10 o’clock, along with the SUB 300T lettering at 4 o’clock. This careful placement of the text donates large empty spaces that help uphold a sense of clarity and superb legibility across a clean, fresh white dial. Crosshairs segment the dial at 15-minute increments, whilst the minute markers and hands in black have received a generous layer of Super-LumiNova to glow richly in dark conditions or during the night. The surface of the Whitepearl dial is protected by a flat piece of scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass which, at times appears almost as if there is nothing between the wearer and dial. Crisp and designed for utmost legibility, the sapphire glass top keeps the height of the DOXA SUB 300T watch in check, protecting the surface of the display from heat, moisture, scratching and light damage.
The case of the new DOXA SUB 300T watch is cushioned in shape and crafted from stainless steel, measuring a confident 42.5mm diameter. There is a clean execution of brushed and polished effects applied to the surface of the stainless steel surface, whilst the knurled screw-down crown at 3 o’clock is easy to grip and adorned with the famous DOXA logo. As with all DOXA 300T watches, the new Whitepearl iteration is equipped with a superior water-resistance of 1200 meters, making it aquatically primed for very daring underwater exploration.
Without a doubt, DOXA’s expertly machined unidirectional rotating bezels are some of the best in the industry. A mitre-saw shaped knurling around the edge of this watch’s black bezel makes it particularly easy to grip under a slippery wetsuit without becoming too sharp to snag on objects. The resistance inside the bezel is balanced, ensuring that it cannot be easily knocked out of place by mistake. It can also never be turned backwards, running the risk of accidentally extending dive time whilst under the water. On the inside of the bezel is a standard 60-minute dive scale for intuitive reading of elapsed time underwater, whilst the outer scale on the bezel features a decompression dive time calculator.
Inside the cult classic DOXA SUB 300T Whitepearl watch is the ETA 2824-2. The workhorse movement is self-winding and capable of producing a power reserve of 42 hours whilst performing at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Unfortunately, its DOXA-decorated elements are concealed behind a solid stainless steel caseback. DOXA dive watches do, after all, put functionality at the forefront of their designs above any superficial appeal.
The new DOXA SUB 300T Whitepearl watch is available on a beads-of-rice stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp that features the exclusive ‘DOXA fish’ symbol upon its surface and an adjustable wetsuit extension. Alternatively, the watch can be worn on a white FKM rubber strap with the same folding clasp and extension feature.
