For the case of the new Odyssey Coral Brown 2.0 watch, Boldr returns to the original Odyssey case design. Broad, imposing angles teamed with an aged effect across the surface of its stainless steel surface create a strong wrist presence with lugs alone that are pronounced enough to get the watch noticed in a crowd. The watch features an oversized triple lock screw-down crown that is easy to grip and has been embossed with the famous Boldr logo – a handy feature even when not using it for time correction purposes. (Trust me, there are plenty of reasons you may want to play around with the crown. Activate it to set the hands to 10 and 2 before taking a shot of your watch in its natural environment, for example!).
The best kind of look on an adventure watch is one that has a matte finish. The largely knurled bezel is a great addition to the case and is unidirectionally rotating to ensure it can only move in the counter-clockwise direction when exploring underwater depths. If you wanted to do this, you have a flexible 500-meter water resistance to go at, plus a helium escape valve for releasing pressure inside the watch’s case. The 120-click bezel clearly displays a 60-minute scale on its surface along with the first 15 minutes of the scale highlighted in an Old Radium-style Super-LumiNova material for peerless legibility underwater. Also featuring this luminous material is the hour track and a set of hands. The coral brown dial is a real treat for military-inspired watch fans since it gives the entire watch a powerful yet retro-inspired look. When light hits the surface of the dial from a certain angle, it can give off a different shade, with sunburst effects that really bring the design of the display to life.
The gunmetal hands against a matte chocolate dial have been filled with a delicious creamy hue which, once again, illuminates during the night and in dark conditions, as do the rectangular and circular hour markers. The hands are proportioned beautifully against the size of the dial, which sits inside a broad case that measures a diameter of 45.5mm. The creamy accents on the dial provide a beautiful cohesiveness against the indulgent tones of the brown dial. Inside the case of this new Boldr Odyssey Coral Brown 2.0 watch is the SW200-1 Automatic movement, which performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations and delivers a power reserve of 38 hours once fully wound.
The Boldr name and logo reside under the 12 o’clock location and, despite a date window at 6 o’clock, both contribute to an unfussy dial that remains simple and legible at all times of the day or night. These details tie in with the aged PVD finish of the steel case perfectly. A touch of red on the tip of the second hand can also be admired against the rich tones of the dial. The entire dial is also protected by a strong piece of anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass, promising to keep the display shielded from all manner of damage.
You have a choice of two options when wearing the Boldr Odyssey Coral Brown 2.0 watch. You can enjoy it on a Druber® fluoroelastomer brown rubber strap or a stainless steel link bracelet executed in the same aged PVD-coated finish. Whilst the rubber strap is extremely pliable and soft against the skin, the metal bracelet provides a very refined and sophisticated finish on the wrist.
