Monday - 17 August 2015
The Limited Edition Bremont Wright Flyer is dedicated to the Wright brothers remarkable legacy.
Wilbur and Orville Wright successfully designed and piloted the ‘world’s first powered flying machine.’ A concept that the determined duo had dreamed of since childhood igniting the beginning of aviation history. Mastering the skies and making the wonderful dream a firm reality succeeded other pioneers who had failed to conquer the air. Their invention was met with disbelief taking the brothers three years to convince doubters and sell the winning formula becoming famous American heroes adored by fans in awe of their aeronautical masterpiece.
Wilbur Wright exclaims: “The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who…looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space…on the infinite highway of the air.”
The Wright Brothers understanding and forward thinking minds invented a piece of history that remains relevant today. Bremont wish to pay tribute and honour the revolutionary first piece of machinery that braved the skies along with the extraordinary men who achieved the incredible invention in 1903. Followers of the luxury brand realise that aviation is at the heart of Bremont and therefore, celebrating the first ever flight conquest in an exquisite and intricate timepiece is a natural undertaking.
The Limited Edition incorporates a remarkable piece of history with the original material from the 1903 Wright Flyer!!! The wing cloth from the aircraft is integrated into the timepiece effortlessly. Admired from the sapphire crystal glass case back the fabric is surrounded by a curved black casing with the influence written in a gold hue; an apt feature is the propeller shaped rotor that includes engravings of the initials of both Wright brothers.
Bremont are extremely proud to be working with a fabric of this status and feel honoured to be able to share the moment and legacy with their loyal fans. The muslim has been gifted to past Presidents and Neil Armstrong famously had a piece sewn into his pocket on his trip to the moon; affiliations that cement the uniqueness of this moment for the English brothers.
Nick English, Co-Founder of Bremont explains: “Giles and I still cannot believe that it’s happened. Holding the original and invaluable muslin used to cover the 1903 Wright Flyer is incredibly emotive. The Wright family has been wonderful to work with and it was inspiring to see their passion for the project. Does the creation of a special aviation-inspired watch really get any better than this? Probably not. The combination of this amazing material and our new BWC/01 movement has resulted in a truly mind-blowing timepiece.”
