Breitling Avenger Blackbird Watch Review
Monday - 27 April 2015
The powerful and forceful design of the Breitling Avenger Blackbird is re-launched with a reduced 44 mm dial.
The masculine and robust aesthetic remains in the veins of the instrument that excels in performance, accuracy and functionality. The smaller diameter nods to the 48 mm version by echoing the spirit, stealth and strength of the original chronograph. The Blackbird continues to dominate the wrist with pride and honour.
Although the Avenger serves to be robust and strong the weight of the titanium case is lightweight for comfort and practicality; a metal favoured by the aeronautical world that inspires and fuels the Breitling brand. To present the timepiece as an intense, powerful machine the titanium is covered in a highly resistant black carbon based coating with a satin-brushed finish. The inward curving lugs elongate the lean and sleek profile effortlessly leading naturally to the Military type anthracite strap, which is recognised as an ultra sturdy high tech fabric.
Continuing to present a highly legible dial that guarantees impact the baton markings and hands are coated with a luminescent substance for vision in a restricted light setting. The black dial allows for the red border that frames the date display at 3 o’clock and edges the second hand diamond tip to stand out dramatically alongside the white and beige colour combination. The large unidirectional rotating bezel allows for the masterpiece to keep a precise count of flight or dive times. To protect against shocks the crown is screw-locked with non-slip grip to remain functional and practical along with the water resistant level of 200m (660 ft)
To secure a first rate performance from the Breitling Watch Avenger Blackbird 44 the timepiece houses an officially certified self-winding movement; a trusted companion for those extreme missions.
