Alpina Startimer Pilot Watch Review
Friday - 30 January 2015
Both of the new Alpina Startimer watches feature a 44 mm stainless steel case and a scratch proof sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. The aviation dial designs are designed to be perfectly readable - a well-known feature of the Startimer collection - with contrasting silvered counters and white dial indexes that were inspired by the pilot dials of Alpina watches from the 1970s. A small seconds display at 6 o'clock incorporates a large date window.
The Alpina Startimer Pilot Chronograph Big Date is powered by the AL-372 high precision Swiss quartz chronograph movement, while the Startimer Pilot Big Date is equipped with the AL-280 high precision Swiss quartz movement. Both models are water resistant to 100 metres and feature a screw-in pilot crown. A technical leather strap enhances the military spirit of the timepieces.
"Alpina professional pilot watches, with their high performance features, are made for tough pilots; those landing on high altitude strips in the Swiss Alps or on short landing fields in the Canadian outback, and are, of course, perfect for all men (and women) who love flying and unlimited spaces and possibilities," the brand explains.
