Raymond Weil Freelancer Watch Review
Wednesday - 01 June 2016
Raymond Weil enter the sailing universe by becoming the Official Timing Partner of Realteam; the dynamic Swiss sailing team who will be competing in the D35 Trophy on Lake Geneva and the GC32 Racing Tour. The musically minded brand have embraced a new influence noticing the similarities between the racing sport and the watchmaking industry. Both demand high performance, acute precision and innovative thinking to survive in the competitive worlds where rivals can overtake in the blink of an eye. The arenas collide on many occasions bringing Raymond Weil to discover a new stopping ground. The partnership also honours the founders passion for sailing who was a member of the Geneva Yacht Club; a tribute to the man who made his vision a reality and is still very much alive 40 years later.
To celebrate the collaboration, Raymond Weil have launched a new freelancer watch to be worn by the crew whilst racing to the finish line (we are sure they will sail to first place). Boasting a 42.5 mm diameter case, the edition has a powerful yet elegant feel enhanced by the polished stainless steel or the black PVD coating. Inspired by traits of diving watches, the Freelancer has a fiercely, dynamic presence. Featuring a unidirectional rotating black ceramic bezel with a choice of white, green or orange markings allows for the timepiece to truly stand out. A coat of Super-Luminova guarantees legibility ensuring that the indices leap from the black dial in a restricted light setting. For high performance, the diving watch is water resistant to 300m and can easily withstand impact, magnetic waves, pressure and change in temperature; a sailing companion that the Realteam crew can rely upon in the most extreme circumstances.
The Realteam crew will proudly secure the powerful Freelancer to their wrist with the rubber strap that has a double push-security system and integrated steel diver extension for easy adjustment of the strap width; a well designed timepiece suitable for the young, professional sailing team!
Elie Bernheim, CEO of Raymond Weil shares her thoughts: "Watchmaking and sailing share the same values and requirements, such as performance, precision and innovation. RAYMOND WEIL is delighted to be supporting this dynamic Swiss team boasting an impressive track record. Realteam perfectly embodies the team spirit, know-how and Swiss excellence that are key principles underpinning our Brand,"
