Friday - 24 May 2024
Ladies looking to inject a subtle touch of sporty glamour to their summer wardrobe this year will be spoilt for choice as TAG Heuer releases three new indulgent Carrera Date watches for 2024
The new TAG Heuer Carrera watches, launched at Geneva’s prestigious Watches & Wonders 2024 event just a couple of months ago, are described by the brand as well-balanced horological works of art. Developed for the female wrist, these new 36mm models, which honour the size of the original Carrera, are slim, elegant and modestly understated. At the same time, they subtly hint at glamour and indulgence, thanks to the brand’s innovative use of scintillating diamonds and luxurious materials. The versatility of the Carrera design allows it to be worn and enjoyed anywhere and at any time. Before we delve into the new Carrera Date releases, let’s look at why the collection is such a timeless choice for motorsport fans and avid TAG Heuer collectors alike.
Watches For the Racetrack – The Carrera Legacy
There is no denying that the Carrera watch is one of TAG Heuer’s most successful designs. Not only is the dial of the Carrera watch focussed around legibility but it also evokes the dashboards of racing cars. No doubt, if you’ve explored motorsport watches in the past, you’ll have stumbled across various watches from the TAG Heuer Carrera watch collection. The design is defined by its sporty aesthetic using fine materials and in-house calibres. The first-ever Carrera watch was designed by Jack Heuer himself and launched in 1963. The line was named after the Panamericana rally, where cars would race through the rustic streets of Mexico during the 1950s.
Once the Carrera watch was released, it became an instant hit. The icon has been modified in various ways since then but has never lost its unmistakable DNA. What’s more, those models that were equipped with the Heuer 01 or 02 Calibres were engineered with a modular construction that opened up a world of possibilities in terms of design. Moreover, due to the heritage of the collection, TAG Heuer Carrera watches have the potential to appreciate in value, making these new releases for 2024 all the more appealing to the modern female collector.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date Watch Reference WBN2350.BD0000
The first of the new Carrera Date watch releases is the reference WBN2350.BD0000, which displays the time in warm copper tones. A dark gradient track on the flange, which represents the minutes and seconds, is reminiscent of the original chronograph version of the Carrera. All the while, a set of rose gold hour markers and hands bring the entire timepiece together including the rose gold bezel that sits atop a stainless steel case, polished for maximum impact. It is these tones (seen in the bi-colour bracelet also) that make this lady’s TAG Heuer Carrera watch such a great asset for wearing day or night. It can be either sporty or dressy depending on the occasion.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date Watch Reference WBN231C.BA0001
The next design is the reference WBN231C.BA0001 – a women’s Carrera Date watch with an alluring mother-of-pearl dial. Measuring 36mm in diameter once more, the stainless steel model captures an ethereal look, thanks to the shimmering, iridescent tones that allow the rose gold-coloured hour makers and hands to pop. Around the flange, a total of 76 round brilliant-cut diamonds catch the light majestically, luring the eye into the pearly centre of the dial. The gradient track in this design comprises tones of brown transitioning into beige for a delightful touch of depth and detail. Brushed finishes on this case combine nicely with a polished bezel, and the design is brought together beautifully with a three-link stainless steel bracelet and folding clasp.
TAG Heuer Carrera Date Watch Reference WBN2351.BD0000
The third and final release (reference WBN2351.BD0000) from the new Carrera watch series from TAG Heuer is another 36mm model, this time featuring glistening diamonds in place of the hour markers. These eleven diamond chatons dance playfully under the light whilst set against a rich and classic mother-of-pearl backdrop. A brown-to-beige gradient flange, once again, completes the look of the dial. These tones compliment a rose gold bezel and crown - a finish that is also used in the three-link bracelet. More delicate round brilliant-cut diamonds are carefully set into the flange, framing the dial with a halo of light.
All of the new releases from the TAG Heuer Carrera Date watch series measure the same 36mm diameter and offer a water-resistant capability of 50 meters. The front of each case is topped with a piece of sapphire crystal glass, promising scratch-resistant and anti-reflective properties. The bracelets fitted to these designs, whether rose gold & steel or fully steel, are the three-link design, which boasts beautifully articulated links that enclose the wrist with a folding clasp and push button mechanism. The clasp is also adorned with the famous TAG Heuer shield logo – an emblem that is also showcased on the dial underneath the 12 o’clock location, along with the brand name.
Beneath the surface of the new TAG Heuer Carrera Date Ladies watches is the Calibre 7 – an automatic engine that performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and produces a power reserve of 56 hours. The movement, offering hours, minutes, seconds and a date function, is housed inside a robust environment, protected from impact, heat, light and moisture damage.
