New Release: The Louis Moinet Time To Race Impulsion Chronograph Limited Edition
Thursday - 04 May 2023
Limited to 28 pieces, the new Louis Moinet Time To Race Impulsion Chronograph watch is crafted from a mix of titanium and 18ct rose gold materials and exposes a beautiful rotating flying tourbillon underneath a vibrant red chronograph seconds hand. Perfect for measuring elapsed time, the single pusher located at 2 o’clock can be activated, where a captivating performance of the brand’s iconic Memoris calibre soon unfolds across the skeletonised dial.
The Louis Moinet Time To Race Chronograph Impulsion is a spectacle to marvel at. It not only pays homage to the historic voyage endured by the company from its first chronograph in the year 1816 to now, but it also celebrates the relationship between watch and wearer thanks to an ergonomic single pusher design. When you activate the polished push-piece at 2 o’clock, a unique mechanical dance unfolds, engaging all of its hand-assembled components that interact underneath a domed anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass. This sapphire crystal glass promises a panoramic view of the movement at work with a design that sees the glass dissociated from the bezel ring itself. This unique design enables the wearer to control two different small time measurements – a 60 seconds scale and a tachymeter scale. But this alone is not the only advantage afforded by the beautiful and sporty Time To Race Impulsion watch by Louis Moinet. Let’s look at some others…
The unique features of the Louis Moinet Time To Race and Time To Race Impulsion Chronograph watches
- The Time To Race watch can be personalised to show a number chosen by you on the dial. The chosen number is emblazoned onto the front of a disc at the 6 o’clock location in one of the brand’s chosen emblematic colours that embody the spirit of sport.
- The watch has a unique brightness at night. This is achieved through colour mixing and the use of Super-LumiNova. The indices and markers on the dial are applied by pad printing, giving the details a matte and flat finish. The artisanal process is an intricate one, setting this chronograph apart from others on the current market.
- The Time To Race watch collection is generally offered in a lightweight titanium case material that enables the watch to perform perfectly as a sports tool yet the Impulsion limited edition model is resolutely luxurious, dressed in a rich 18ct rose gold case but with a central case section crafted from titanium.
- The watch comes in striking blue and rose gold colours with a matching blue-coloured rubber band.
- The movement inside this Time To Race Impulsion watch is raised up. This works in conjunction with the domed sapphire glass front to offer a panoramic view of the movement.
- The in-house Memoris calibre lies at the centre of the Impulsion watch bearing a classic column wheel, a single pusher, and a horizontal clutch. Its automatic winding system is replaced by a manual double barrel winding system, which delivers a power reserve of 96 hours.
- As the chronograph hand is activated by the single pusher, it travels over a rotating flying tourbillon with an off-centre cage that does one revolution per minute.
- The watch is named Impulsion to reiterate the transferred energy required by the chronograph and tourbillon to put on its captivating show.
The provocative curve of the sapphire glass dome and the cut-out lugs on the design are all part of the clever Moinet styling and blend in effortlessly with the rest of the watch. A shot of red can be seen in the hand of the sub-scales placed at 3 and 9 o’clock on the dial. These refer to the 30-minute counter and the small seconds sub-scale, whilst the 6 o’clock location exposes the beautifully crafted tourbillon. Unlike the Orange Papaya and Silver Winner iterations of the Time To Race Chronograph, also released this year, the new Time To Race Impulsion watch forgoes the tachymeter scale and instead features a bright blue minute and second sale around the edge of the dial.
Those who can appreciate the complexity of a tourbillon watch, combined with a chronograph complication will find very little to complain about in this new design. As mentioned, the watch is completed on a vivid blue rubber strap that secures to the wrist with a matching 18ct rose gold buckle.
