Introducing the colourful TAG Heuer’s Carrera Date Watches for 2023

TAG Heuer has released three new dial colours for its Carrera Date watch collection in sunray silver, deep blue and pastel green. These will be joined by a fourth iteration in May in hot Pink – each one with a slimmer case depth and a new movement.
The Carrera has been TAG Heuer’s sporty classic since 1963. As one of the Swiss brand’s most popular collections, the range was inspired by the dashboards of racing cars and was designed by Jack Heuer himself. Setting itself aside from other chronograph watches on the market, the TAG Heuer Carrera is known for its precision and its reliability. The line is named after Mexico’s 1950s Carrea Panamericana rally. Whilst the Calibre Heuer 01 and 02 models are known for their modular constructions, the Heuer 02 is a movement manufactured by the company in-house that promises an improved power reserve. The Carrera celebrates a special anniversary in 2023 of 60 years, thus TAG Heuer has released some new models for the line to mark the brand’s milestone.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera watches for 2023 have been released in four new versions. A sunray silver, sunray blue and sunray pastel green model will launch first, followed by a hot pink version to be released in May. All four models boast a new colour palette, silhouette and mechanical upgrade to excite fans of the popular line. The innovative design of the new TAG Heuer Carrera watches for 2023 pays homage to the original 36mm model released in 1963 – a result of Jack Heuer’s electrical engineering expertise. His combined passion for motor racing also put him in the exact right spot at the exact right time to develop a leading wrist-worn chronograph that not only highlighted the importance of a clear instrument dial that could be read easily and instantly but also its creator’s passion for the racetrack. The original Carrera watch design resonated with young-minded motorsport fans in the same way that it does today – its name standing for “race”, “career” and “path”. The eternal modern chronograph continues its story six decades on with these four new releases that catch the eye with their unusual dial shades and their crisp layout.
Whilst the deep Carrera blue version points to the signature colour associated with this range, the sophisticated sunray silver dial is equally as classic and mirrors the same brushed finish. So too does the pastel green colour – arguably one of the brand’s most unusual shades. The hot pink Carrera Date watch to follow in a few weeks, however, showcases a snailed finish upon its surface, adding a deeper layer of depth and substance to the dial. All four of these new TAG Heuer Carrera watches, released in time for Watches & Wonders 2023 measure a 36mm diameter and are crafted from stainless steel. The case of the watch is executed in a mix of polished and brushed finishes – the stepped bezel adding a mirror-polished element that opens up the dial nicely.
These new Carrera watches for 2023 appeal to a unisex audience thanks to their unimposing sizes. A black quarter-of-a-second track around the [periphery of the silver and pastel green dials stands out legibly, whilst the signature Carrera blue dial has a quarter-of-a-second track finished in white. The hands and the stick markers around the hour track of all three models glow dynamically in an indulgent gold-coloured tone in the daytime and have been treated with Super-LumiNova to assist with timekeeping in the dark. The 6 o’clock position on the dial is occupied with a date window dressed against a white background.

The new TAG Heuer Carrera Date watches for 2023 have a re-thought case design with a depth that is now 2mm thinner than previous models. Whilst this difference may seem minor, it will no doubt have a significant impact on its wearability on the wrist. Its new design is both taught and compact, making it appeal even more athletic than before. Topped with a piece of scratch-resistant and anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass, these new Carrera Date watches for men and women are TAG Heuer’s way of extending the popular line whilst giving it some much-needed modifications. Its round case is fitted with an integrated stainless steel three-row H-link bracelet with a folding clasp (and push buttons) engraved with the famous TAG Heuer logo. The links of the bracelet are a mix of brushed and polished effects that envelop the wrist comfortably and stylishly.
The luxurious and ergonomic feel of the new 2023 TAG Heuer Carrera Date watches are powered by the Calibre 7. The self-winding movement has a superior power reserve of 56 hours as opposed to the original Calibre 5’s 38-hour power reserve. Extending the collection’s racing traditions, the new models have an exhibition caseback crafted from sapphire crystal glass that offers a unique glimpse into the workings of the movement.
