Hamilton welcomes fans of the Jazzmaster series to enjoy a more sporty twist to the design with the new Jazzmaster Performer line of three-handed automatics
The diverse offerings of the Hamilton Jazzmaster
Sitting at the intersection between modern watchmaking and classic design, the Jazzmaster watch from Hamilton has been a staple in the brand’s portfolio since the 1970s. Its sporty chic character has been made available in a huge array of colours, materials and designs, making it one of the company’s most diverse offerings. Men’s and women’s watches range from a mere 27mm to a much broader 46mm and are offered in classic stainless steel as well as a more luxurious gold-plated finish. Up to now, there are around 10 different sub-categories for the Hamilton Jazzmaster. These include the Day Date, the Seaview and the Viewmatic amongst others. More technically sophisticated designs are those such as the Viewmatic Skeleton Gent Auto, which reveals the movement’s escapement through the dial side of the watch, along with its mainspring and barrel. Even bolder are models such as the Open Heart and the Regulator. The latter shows a separate indication for the hours and the minutes, whilst the former shows the balance through the dial in a neat cut-out.
The Jazzmaster line welcomes another sub-series
New to the Jazzmaster collection is the Performer series. These models are made available for both male and female fans of the collection, from an assertive 42mm to a much more manageable 34mm and even something in between both – a 34mm model. The watches are split into two categories – a three-hander and a chronograph. Whilst the Hamilton Jazzmaster Performer Chrono watch is offered in a confident 42mm diameter, the three-handed automatic versions are offered in a 38 and 34mm sizes. Both options combine clarity with urban charisma. The three-handed 38mm models, which we’re going to look at in more detail today are inherently contemporary and are offered in deep blue, black and white dials and boast a sunray finish. The smaller 34mm three-handed models, which we’re also covering, are offered in deep blue, black and mother of pearl, with the deep blue version offered on a choice of leather band or stainless steel bracelet. Let’s take a more in-depth look at these models.
The Hamilton Jazzmaster Automatic 38 and 34mm models
The new Hamilton Jazzmaster Automatic watches have a versatile style that can be worn anywhere and anytime. Their dials promise simplicity and legibility with a clear and concise layout that features stick markers for the hour track, tapering hour and minute hands and a needle-fine seconds hand. Out of the 38mm range, the deep blue option is offered on a matching dark blue perforated leather strap with a stainless steel folding clasp, whilst the black model is offered on a classic stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp. Lastly, the white dial version is fitted on a black perforated leather band with a rose gold PVD-coated stainless steel folding clasp to match the finish of its case. The blue and black dials both feature an unadorned stainless steel case, yet all models have a bezel that features Arabic numeral minute markers engraved into its surface.
The 34mm versions of the new Hamilton Jazzmaster Performer Automatic range feature dials in dark blue, light blue, black and mother of pearl. Perfect for female collectors, these Jazzmaster watches for women have a resolutely feminine feel with nice touches seen in the mother-of-pearl model, for example, complete with a rose gold PVD-coated bezel with steel lugs and case, and a beige satin strap with a traditional pin buckle fastening. The dark blue and black iterations are decidedly more classic. A slight air of masculinity can be appreciated across the architecture of these watches, reinforced further with the durable steel bezel in a brushed effect for the blue and a black ceramic finish for the black model. The overall sporty appearance of the Jazzmaster Performer watch is brought into the light blue sunray version, complete with a brushed steel bezel.
All 38mm and 34mm models of the new three-handed Hamilton Jazzmaster Performer range for men and women are powered by the H10 movement. The modified self-winding movement offers a power reserve of 80 hours and a performance of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It also comes complete with a Nivachron balance spring for improved performance. Whilst gold-coloured hands and indexes feature on the 38mm white and 34mm mother-of-pearl models, nickelled features take centre stage on the other models. A sapphire crystal glass front equips all of the Hamilton Jazzmaster Performer watches, complete with a 100-meter water-resistant rating and a genuine presentation box with full paperwork and warranty supplied with each purchase.
