The TUDOR Black Bay Chrono Pink is the talk on everyone’s lips right now. Read all about it here at Jura Watches.

Everyone in the luxury watch community is speculating at how many Black Bay Chrono Pink (AKA “Miss Piggy”) watches TUDOR is going to make. The answer is that we just don’t know. But the design has gone viral in the watch world and is showing no signs of taking a back seat yet. Enthusiasts are dying to try the watch on or at least see it in the flesh. Here at Jura Watches, we’re going to go under the loupe with the watch and showcase all its features. Basically, if you never get to wear this watch in the real world, you’ll certainly feel like you had the chance to try it on here with us today.

First off, the Black Bay Pink watch from TUDOR is powered by a Breitling movement but is still retailing for a very reasonable price despite its desirability factor. David Beckham has been seen sporting the watch, which comes as no shock since the colours match his Inter Miami FC team perfectly. The ex-English football player and former England team captain has never been shy about channelling his inner-feminine side and rocks the watch perfectly. Taiwanese musician, Jay Chou also wears the watch.

The release of the Black Bay Pink came at a time when the brand was just securing a partnership with Inter Miami FC, co-owned by the aforementioned ex-English footballer, David Beckham. At the same time, Jay Chou entered the TUDOR ambassador family, who the watch is believed to be co-designed with. Despite the fact that the Black Bay is normally considered a very serious piece of kit, the pink tones of the watch are incredibly daring, exciting, youthful and even a little bit playful. One of the most interesting points to make about the pink TUDOR watch is that it doesn’t sport the classic riveted three-link Oyster bracelet that other models do. Moreover, TUDOR specialists equip it with a Jubilee bracelet that gives it more of an elevated dressy feel. If you remember, TUDOR did the same with the Black Bay Burgundy watch released last year.

The Appeal of the Black Bay Pink

A pink dial for a sporty chronograph may seem an unexpected choice at first, but TUDOR is known for going against the grain. The watch celebrates the daring spirit of its ambassadors who are more than comfortable with sporting the colour in a new and truly masculine way. Pink may not be for everyone but it certainly challenges the status quo. It also comes with all the key features you’d expect of any core Black Bay piece. You get the reliable movement, complete with a column wheel and vertical clutch for a smooth and effortless performance, as well as a robust case and a set of contrasting sub-counters for the chronograph. TUDOR chose one simple aesthetical change to the Black Bay watch and it has skyrocketed in popularity, which is quite often the way it goes when an unsuspecting icon is released. It takes the industry by storm, sending enthusiasts into a frenzy. Considering there is no other less masculine colour than pink, the watch challenges the preconceived “norms” of society and celebrates a future where colour in any way, shape or form, will not define us.

The Details of the TUDOR Black Bay

There’s a lot of hype around the TUDOR Black Bay Chrono Pink watch, but if you just want to know the basic facts about the timepiece, here they are.

The TUDOR Black Bay Chrono Pink is a 41mm size and is crafted from stainless steel. It sits at a depth of 14.4mm in thickness and features an inlaid aluminium bezel in black to match the details on the pink dial. The bezel also features a tachymeter scale to make measuring speed based on distance easy. Over the other side of the case, the watch features a solid plain caseback, while the lugs feature a completely bevelled edge. As one would expect of any TUDOR Black Bay watch, the screw-down crown at the 3 o’clock location on the case has been stamped with the brand’s famous rose logo and is flanked by the 2 and 4 o’clock push-pieces for operating the chronograph functions.

The dial of the Black Bay Chrono Pink watch is, of course, the USP of this design. Drenched in a pale pink colour, it has caught the attention of TUDOR watch fans worldwide. This is not a hot pink dial and it’s no garish colour, either. In fact, if you take a very close-up look at the display, you will see that it is speckled with the tiniest black mottle-effect dots, which give the pink colour its muted tones. The bi-compax sub-dials offering 30-minute and small second functions at 3 and 9 o’clock are filled in black to match the tachymeter bezel and black “TUDOR” lettering at 12 o’clock. The dial also features diver hour markers and the iconic “Snowflake” hands, all treated in a generous layer of Super-LumiNova for enhanced visibility at night. To finish, a date window sits at 6 o’clock.

The TUDOR Black Bay Chrono Pink watch is powered by a COSC-certified movement made by Kenissi. The self-winding Calibre MT5813 has a balance wheel that performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour. It also reserves power for 70 hours once fully wound and features a stop-second and quick date adjustment feature.

As I mentioned, aside from one other Black Bay model, this is the first time TUDOR has equipped the Black Bay with a Jubilee-type bracelet. Its 5-link design is refined and dressy and encloses with a butterfly clasp and a T-Fit micro-adjustment feature.

So, there they are, all the facts you’ll ever need to know about the highly coveted TUDOR Black Bay Chrono Pink watch, bar one thing. Will the brand be making any more? If it does, you’ll hear it from us here at Jura Watches first!
