Tissot Watch is Official Timekeeper of Tour de Romandie
Monday - 23 April 2012
The annual cycle race in Romandie, Switzerland, takes place from 24th to 29th April this year. First run in 1947, the course of the race runs through the Jura Mountains and the Alps, and includes time trials in Lausanne and Geneva. Riders also pass through Le Locle, the home town of Tissot. The varied stages of the race requires high-tech timing technology from Tissot, which the brand has developed specifically for cycling.
Francois Thiébaud, President of Tissot, said: “The Tour de Romandie is a challenge for which both individual and team spirit are needed in addition to requiring motivation and dynamism. We share the same philosophy at Tissot worldwide.”
The Tour de Romandie is part of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Pro Tour. As a UCI partner since 1996, the Swiss watch brand has worked to bring advanced technology to the races, providing real time information, statistics and positions to the spectators. Tissot believes its role as a Timekeeper is vitally important to races such as this, stating that "timing, scoring and statistics in modern sports is not simply a matter of counting down seconds and tallying positions. Analysis and statistics have come to have a tremendous importance for fans, coaches, athletes, commentators, media and more."
