Seiko has revealed its new three-year partnership with tennis player Novak Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic is currently ranked at world number 2, and is considered by many to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time. The partnership was announced in Melbourne on the eve of the Australian Tennis Open.
"In Novak, we see someone who shares our desire to be the best and who is determined to maintain his status as a leader," the brand says. "Like Seiko, Novak is dedicated to perfection. And like Novak, Seiko is determined to be 'one step ahead of the rest'."
Djokovic will wear four different Seiko watches throughout 2014, selected to suit different aspects of life: a Sportura chronograph for training; a Premier Kinetic Perpetual watch for evening functions; a Seiko Divers watch for his time spent enjoying adventure sports; and a Seiko Astron GPS Solar for his time spent travelling. The Astron GPS Solar uses a GPS network to automatically adjust to every time zone on earth.
The choice of watches highlights Djokovic's passion for the environment. The Astron is powered by light, the Sportura chronograph is powered by a mercury free battery, and the Divers and Premier timepieces are powered by Seiko's 'no battery change' technology.
