TAG Heuer’s Olympic Brand Ambassadors and What They Wear
Tuesday - 13 August 2024
Check out what some of the world’s most successful Olympic medallists wear on their wrists while competing and training to be the best at their sport.
Swiss watch manufacturer TAG Heuer is synonymous with the world of sport. Within its family of brand ambassadors are some of the world’s most successful athletes and sports professionals of all time. Some names include skateboarder Sky Brown, European PGA tour winner, Tommy Fleetwood and successful tennis champion Naomi Osaka. Last year, ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games, the brand welcomed three new faces to its roster of professional athletes. From the track and field and swimming sphere, the new brand ambassadors all do a great job in advocating for timekeeping importance during sporting events, promoting several of the brand’s famous designs.
The first of the three is American sprinter Fred Kerley. The 28-year-old has succeeded in 200-meter and 400-meter sprints, tying as the 6th fastest man in the world to run the 100-meter and completing the race in just 9.76 seconds. In 2022, Kerley won the 100m championships following his 2021 silver medal at the Olympics. With every stride he takes, Kerley is committed to upholding the brand’s values of precision and boundary-pushing. This year the successful runner secured himself the bronze medal for the same race.
The second brand ambassador to join the TAG Heuer family is Letsile Tebogo. At the age of just 20, the track and field athlete has graduated to the big leagues and became the second runner of all time to break the 100-meter within the 10-second barrier in the under-20-year age category. In the lead-up to the 2024 Olympics, Tebogo was considered one to watch and that proved an accurate assumption, since the Botswana runner became the world's best 300m runner this year, completing a time of 30.69 seconds. This follows other recent achievements from the past couple of years, including winning the 100m in 2021 and placing second in the 200m sprint. In 2022 he became the 100m African champion, becoming the youngest winner in competition history.
The third Olympic competitor to join the brand’s family of ambassadors is Canadian swimmer Summer McIntosh who at the age of just 17 became an Olympic Games veteran after competing in the 2020 Games and becoming a four-time World Aquatics champion since then. She also brought home two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and became recognised for holding the world record for the women’s 400-meter medley where backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle and butterfly styles were all swam at equal distances.
Of course, joining the world of TAG Heuer means that each athlete gets to experience plenty of hands-on time with the Swiss brand’s sports watches. As such, each individual has their own personal preferences and needs in a watch. Much of that decision-making process is guided by what each athlete requires in a watch during their hours of training, their competing and their personal day-to-day life.
Fred Kerley
Fred Kerley himself sprints with a TAG Heuer Connected watch on his wrist, enjoying its ultra-precise training planners and metrics covering things like heart rate, calories, and steps. The Connected Calibre E4 series is where athletes like Kerley can find models that boast state-of-the-art technology and lightweight case construction, promising ergonomics at their best. Helping him maximise his performance and train to the very highest level for events like the Olympic Games, the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 reference SBR8081.BT6299 features a heart rate sensor, microphone, barometer, compass, and a myriad of Sports Apps such as cycling, Running, Swimming and Fitness. The watch is similar to one of our bestsellers, the steel reference SBR8A10.BA0616. With Wear OS by Google and compatibility with iOS and Android, the TAG Heuer Connected smartwatch like this 42mm sandblasted titanium model is perfect for those like Kerley who want to get the very best out of their watch.
Letsile Tebogo
Phenomenal junior sprinter, Letsile Tebogo turns to designs like the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 too. Aside from all those features mentioned already, the Swiss manufacturer also implements some incredible customisable options, enabling you to optimize the watch to best suit your lifestyle. For example, its Sports App can be personalised to suit your goals and your everyday challenges. You also get the option to make the most of an interchangeable strap. Many TAG Heuer Connected watches come on a sporty black rubber strap. This model reference SBR8A80.BT6261 features a black DLC-coated titanium folding clasp on a black rubber band but can be switched over to something more classic for evening use.
Summer McIntosh
Enabling her to enjoy high-intensity moments fuelled by adrenaline, Summer McIntosh turns to models like the TAG Heuer Aquaracer reference WBP2411.BA0622. The watch enables McIntosh to push herself far beyond her own known limits in the field of swimming with a crisp, highly legible dial that is perfect for more formal occasions. The model is crafted from stainless steel and measures a comfortable and manageable diameter of 30mm. Perfect for the female wrist, this watch belongs to TAG Heuer’s most popular dive watch collection. It boasts the addition of scintillating diamonds around the hour track for added finesse and opulence. As the giveaway lies in its name - the Professional 200 Date – this watch is 200-meter water resistant, features a date function at 3 o’clock and is both practical and robust enough for those with serious aquatic aspirations. The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 Date watch is fitted on a matching stainless steel bracelet, features a unidirectional rotating bezel, and presents the time on a dramatic deep blue sunray dial. The Calibre 9, which lies at the heart of the case, is also capable of producing an impressive 40-hour power reserve.
Suffice it to say, TAG Heuer’s Olympic athletes fulfil their role as brand ambassadors perfectly with a whole host of timepieces that they can utilise for their busy lifestyles, helping them reach incredible goals. Watchmaking technology continues to evolve and improve each year, as does the level of competition at sporting events like the Olympic Games.
