Two New Colours for the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Compression Collection

Two new Super Sea Wolf watches from Zodiac have been released – each one inspired by days spent under the sun. Perfect for summer 2023, these new Zodiac dive watches can be used for beach exploration, swimming, or general day-to-day wear and come on two different strap options to match their vibrant designs.
Ever since Zodiac was taken over by the Fossil Group back in 2001, its long line of vibrant watches has been impressing dive watch fans. Sure, the brand has been around since 1882 but it manages to retain a youthful and young presence within the horological industry. One example of this would have to be the Super Sea Wolf Watermelon watch. It was a take on the 1954 Super Sea Wolf, brought back from the brand’s old catalogue of underwater tools. The manufacturer re-surfaced the Super Sea Wolf line back in 2015 and hasn’t looked back since. Throughout this series – one thing in common is shared – bold use of colour. In one model, a fun and exuberant bezel surrounds an outer dial ring, executed in a different colour against a contrasting display, whilst the other model is executed in a striking turquoise and black colour scheme. The mineral glass-capped bezels seen in these designs are intended to mimic the original Bakelite bezels used decades ago. Following on from the Super Sea Wolf Watermelon watch are the new Super Sea Wolf Compression models with more summer-inspired colourways.
The new Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Compression watches
The new watch from the Super Sea Wolf range from Zodiac pays tribute to the power of the ocean and the world’s love for exploring the unknown. Both iterations measure a 40mm diameter, along with a 200-meter water resistance. The two models have been released in time for the summer. Fossil explains a little about the inspiration behind the new Compressor watches; “Inspired by the beauty of the summer sun and idyllic island days, our latest iterations of the iconic Super Sea Wolf feature bold colour accents that are an instant nod to a summer by the sea”.
And bold they certainly are. The first model we’re looking at is the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Compression watch reference ZO9305 with a beautiful turquoise-coloured dial and vivid orange accents seen in the minute hand. The date situated at 3 o’clock is mounted against a white background to enhance legibility, whilst the rest of the dial features black trimmed elements seen in the rectangular hour markers filled with luminous material and a minute scale set in silver against the turquoise dial colour. Straight and rectangular in profile are the central hour and minute hands – normal for the minute hand and orange for the hour, but both coated in lashings of Super-LumiNova to assist with timekeeping during the night or in the water. The hands are accompanied by solid and visible hour markers, which are framed by a black-filled unidirectional rotating bezel. The clever design of the bezel ensures it will only rotate in the counterclockwise direction. To complete its bold and energetic colour, the ZO9305 watch is fitted on a matching turquoise rubber band with a stainless steel pin buckle.
The next reference is the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Compression ZO9304, which has a silver dial framed by a pale blue bezel with orange accents marking out the 60-minute sale. The orange hues continue into the minute hand of the dial and the trims around the rectangular hour markers. Once again, the dial is kitted out with a date window at 3 o’clock and features the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf lettering at 12 o’clock. The unusual mix of silver, orange and blue makes for a rare-looking diver’s watch but one that is reflective of Zodiac’s bold and daring approach to expert watchmaking. Differing from the turquoise model, this ZO9304 watch is fitted on a five-link stainless steel bracelet with links executed in a mix of brushed and polished finishes. The bracelet secures to the wrist with a folding clasp marked with the Zodiac logo.
Both 200-meter water-resistant watches measure a very manageable 40mm diameter making them ideal for smaller-sized wrists and are complete with a closed steel caseback that features the Zodiac logo at its centre. The watches are all powered by a Swiss STP 1-11 automatic movement for unwavering accuracy.
