Introducing the Oris AquisPro 4000m watch
Wednesday - 30 August 2023
What do you do if you’re a professional diver and you’re in need of a serious timekeeping tool for saturation diving? Well, you look to the Oris AquisPro 4000m watch of course!
The new AquisPro 4000m watch from Oris is a highly technical tool that provides a functional, rugged and instrumental companion for the wrist whilst you explore the underwater universe. In recent years, the AquisPro has always been loved for its impressive water resistance, making it incredibly good for resisting stress and pressure. Its bezel and rubber strap are also notable for having patented technology. Whether you are operating the crown, the bezel or the clasp, the entire design of the Oris AquisPro from start to finish is centred around user friendliness.
And if that bezel becomes misaligned for whatever reason during a dive, it can only move in the counter-clockwise direction, ensuring diver safety and eradicating the risk of accidentally extending dive time whilst exploring. A metal ring also runs around the outside of the bezel, known as the Rotation Safety System with a grooved rubber coating. When the ring is pulled upwards, it engages with the flank of the dive time bezel and can be reset so that it corresponds with the minute hand. If the ring is pushed down again, the bezel is locked into place, showing the required time. As well as all this, the Oris AquisPro watches with 1000 meter water resistance are kitted out with a helium escape valve. The same can be said for this new Oris AquisPro 4000m, which we’re going to be looking into in a bit more detail now.
The new Oris AquisPro 4000m is the Swiss brand’s most water-resistant watch so far. It can withstand 4000 metres of water depth and is loaded with plenty of Oris’ cutting edge patented technology, including the above mentioned Rotation Safety System that Oris designed in collaboration with expert divers. As well as this, the AquisPro 4000m watch is equipped with a security folding clasp extension system, enabling for the strap to be adjusted in length. To mention yet another key feature of the design, its beating heart is that of the Oris Calibre 400, which comes with the added reassurance of chronometer accuracy and a 10 year warranty when registered with MyOris. Let’s take a more in depth look...
Stunning blue gradient dial
The new Oris AquisPro 4000m watch boasts the time via a mesmerising blue gradient dial that melds into a darkened black edge. Upon its surface is a shimmering wave pattern that entices the light to dance in between its perfectly arranged baton hour markers and its chunky central hands. Both hour markers and hands have been treated with plenty of Super LumiNova material to assist with timekeeping in dark conditions, as have the numerals applied to the surface of the model’s bezel. The deep blue ceramic insert within the diving bezel is another nice touch and enhances the stunning nuances of the blue coloured dial from light to dark. The first 15 minutes of the dive scale are also highlighted by light blue accents, whilst the triangular marker at the 0 position can easily be aligned with the central minute hand to begin measuring elapsed time whenever desired. And the Oris AquisPro 4000m dive watch is not only for underwater adventures either. Its luminous and highly legible dial, rotating bezel and strong yet lightweight titanium case measuring a diameter of 49.5mm are all perfect for adapting to daily life. This may be for Sport, for outdoor exploration or just to enjoy the desirable “dive watch” look on the wrist regardless of whether you intend to venture down to such extraordinary depths or not.
The Oris AquisPro 4000m watch sits with a remarkable lightness on the wrist to enhance wearer comfort, Oris experts have fitted the dive model on a bright blue strap to match the heart of the dial. The rubber band secures to the wrist with a matching titanium security folding clasp with an extension feature that enables the watch to be worn over the top of a diving suit or such like.
The front of the new Oris dive watch for 2023 features a domed piece of scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass. In the all black DLC-coated titanium version of the AquisPro 1000 released not so long ago, Oris ensured that only the underside of the glass was treated with anti-reflective material. This ensures that the blue tinge effect that you can often see across the glass of black watches is eradicated. Whether the same process is applied to this new AquisPro 4000m watch is unknown but it’s definitely likely.
The Oris AquisPro 4000m watch features a screw-down crown crafted from stainless steel that is located at 3 o’clock. This feature helps to uphold the watch’s water-resistant capability. As with multiple other Oris dive watches this model is powered by the Oris Calibre 400. The movement was entirely conceptualised by Oris, setting a new standard in automatic mechanical movements. Its five day power reserve amounts to 120 hours of accurate timekeeping during periods where the watch is away from the wrist. This is all thanks to the use of twin barrels with an extended mainspring. Reflecting Oris’ confidence in the movement and its exceptional performance, the movement comes with a recommendation of a ten year service and a ten-year warranty. If all that wasn’t enough, the movement is also highly resistant to magnetism. The logic and expertise behind the Oris Calibre 400 movement runs much deeper than this however. It foregoes the ball bearing system which enables the rotor to spin, powering the mainspring stored inside the barrel. Instead, the component was replaced by a low-friction slide bearing system, requiring a metal stud to run through a lubricated sleeve.
Packed full of patented technology and with a water resistance never been achieved by Oris before, this new AquisPro 4000m watch is a sure win-win situation for both new and faithful collectors of the Oris AquisPro.
