Breitling has created a new Chronomat 44 featuring the livery of the Frecce Tricolori - the Italian airforce aerobatics team - reaffirming a longstanding partnership with the squad.
The Frecce Tricolori first chose Breitling to design their official watch in 1983. The brand worked closely with the pilots to create an authentic aviation chronograph, and the famous Breitling Chronomat was launched the following year.
A special version of the Chronomat 44 has been created for the team in tribute to the partnership. On 18th October 2012 the watch was presented to the Frecce Tricolori team pilots at an event held at the Rivolto airbase in Italy, with a number of Breitling guests, members of the military and press in attendance.
The Frecce Tricolori Chronomat 44 features a black dial in keeping with the original 1983 model, with silver-toned counters and red hands. The team logo is placed at 12 o'clock, and a silhouette of the squad's 10 Aermachi aircraft is engraved on the case back.
The watch is water resistant to 500 metres and powered by Manufacture Breitling Calibre 01 movement, chronometer-certified by the COSC. The stainless steel case measures 44 mm, and it has an AR-coated sapphire crystal. It is available with a choice of straps, including a new black rubber strap that features an embossed Breitling signature.
A 1,000-piece limited edition with the same design will be released for purchase.
