Motorcycle racer and Tissot ambassador Thomas Luthi secured his first victory of the season in the MotoGP of Le Mans.
The win on May 20th was the third of Luthi's career on this circuit, and put him within three points of the championship lead. He overcame the wet conditions to take first place after seven laps, and was able to extend his gap past the three second mark at the halfway stage.
Luthi will receive a special Tissot timepiece to celebrate the victory. The luxury Swiss brand presents a watch to the winner of each race in its Tissot Pole Position Awards - part of its role as Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the MotoGP.
This victory is particularly important to Tissot as Thomas Luthi has been an ambassador of the brand for a number of years. "Tissot is a great partner and of great value to me," Luthi says. "Thanks to Tissot, I can concentrate fully on my sport. Motorcycle racing is all about time. As a racer, I am always hunting for the fastest possible time."
A new watch was released in tribute to Luthi earlier this year, marking the start of the new racing season. The Tissot T-Race Thomas Luthi Limited Edition 2012 was designed to reflect the racer's "explosive energy". It features the black, silver and yellow of Luthi's team colours, a brake-disc bezel, racing style dial, and Luthi's racing number engraved on the case back. The watch is limited to 999 pieces and presented in a special helmet case.
