Two Prizes for Maurice Lacroix Watch in 2012 Red Dot Awards
Thursday - 19 April 2012
The Roue Carrée Seconde and Double Rétrograde models from the Masterpiece collection both received awards in the Watches and Jewellery category.
The Red Dot Awards are a coveted seal of quality in design, with the winners decided by a jury of design experts from all over the world. Over 14,000 entries from more than 70 countries were received for last year's awards.
The Masterpiece Roue Carrée Seconde is an updated model of the Régulateur Roue Carrée - the first watch in history to be powered by a square wheel, and 2011 Red Dot Award winner. The 2012 model is in keeping with the previous design, with the dial created on the main plate of the movement itself. The square wheel indicates the seconds, and turns a clover leaf-shaped wheel to transfer power with the same precision as a circular wheel.
The Masterpiece Double Rétrograde is described as a combination of the “traditional art of watchmaking with a modern design”. It features a second time zone indicated by a retrograde hand at 12 o'clock, date indication by retrograde hand at 6 o'clock, small second hand at 9 o'clock, and power reserve hand at 3 o'clock.
