On August 2, 1971, Apollo 15’s mission commander David Scott became the seventh man to walk on the moon, all while wearing his personally-owned Bulova Lunar Pilot watch. To celebrate 50 years since this historic moment, Bulova have launched this re-edition, the Bulova Lunar Pilot 50th Anniversary watch. Limited to only 500 pieces, the design takes inspiration from its famous predecessor with the same case shape and dial design but ignites a fresh aesthetic now engineered from lightweight grade 5 titanium and gold-coloured accents. The case measures to 45 millimetre in diameter and features gold inflections on the fixed tachymeter scale bezel, crown, chronograph pushers and on the closed case back.

The case back of the Bulova Lunar Pilot 50th Anniversary Limited Edition commemorates the historic occasion with a stunning engraving featuring the image of an astronaut and special printed lettering marking its limited edition status. Hidden behind the case back is Bulova’s proprietary high-performance quartz movement, a calibre that can impressively attest to an accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per year. It also ensures a rare sweeping hand for the chronograph seconds. The chronograph seconds hand is dressed in gold to match the three subsidiary dials and the rest of the watch’s hardware. In contrast, the hour and minute hands are coated in black and treated to glow in the dark Superluminova. The Bulova Lunar Pilot 50th Anniversary is completed by scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment, a 50 metre water resistant rating and a supple grey leather strap with NATO-style effect secured by a pin buckle.
