For several years now, IWC Schaffhausen has worked alongside the Charles Darwin Foundation to raise money and awareness for the Galapagos scientific centre. Here, they research the indigenous fauna and flora of the Galapagos Islands, a World Heritage site, to ensure the conservation of the environment and its biodiversity. In honour of their work and to help raise donations for the research, IWC have launched this IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Galapagos Islands Edition watch. Suited perfectly to their Aquatimer collection, a series of luxury divers watches, the special edition is equipped with a 45 millimetre stainless steel case treated to a unique vulcanised rubber-coating, giving the watch an attractive and sporty aesthetic appropriate for water-based adventures.

The IWC Aquatimer Chronograph also features an external rotating bezel which rotates an inner bezel protected by a SafeDive system, a piece of technology that allows it to be moved simply and precisely in steps of one minute, even when wearing diving gloves or with cold fingers. A screw in crown and screw down case back assist in a 300 metre water resistant rating. Hiding within the rubberised case of the IWC Aquatimer Chronograph Galapagos Islands Edition watch is the IWC-manufactured 89365-calibre movement which delivers chronograph function with minutes and seconds, flyback function, date display, small hacking seconds and a healthy power reserve of 68 hours. At the centre, a smooth black dial presents these complications through large Superluminova coated hands, a yellow tipped chronograph seconds hand and a yellow-handed small seconds at 6 o’clock. To complete the IWC Aquatimer Chronograph watch, a black rubber strap is added and fitted with IWC’s bracelet quick-change system for effortless swap over.
