The New Norqain Wild ONE All Black watch – A High-Performance Sports watch with Immense Stealth
Thursday - 30 November 2023
The new Wild ONE All Black watch from Norqain keeps the desert theme running throughout its stealthy black NORTEQ case design and is inspired by the brooding moon casting glimpses of light across the sand dunes at night. It features a chronometer-certified Kenissi movement and bears the distinctive Mandala-like surface pattern across its all-black dial.
The criteria for what the perfect GADA (Go Anywhere, Do Anything) watch must have varies from person to person and from brand to brand. In general, however, they all share the same features that make them great for outdoor exploration. At the same time, they must be stylish enough for social events. Not many pilot watch collectors are pilots, just like very few dive watches are actually worn for diving. But a tool watch for adventure is what you make it and a model that sports an exciting proprietary material is always going to be a hit, whether you’re a mountaineer, a world traveller, or neither. That’s why the new Wild ONE watch excites with its all-black outfit. It follows in the footsteps of other Wild ONE watches that have gone before it and has been released alongside an alluring 18ct rose gold version. Meet the new Wild ONE All Black watch.
As already mentioned, Norqain has just released a new Wild ONE watch, this time clad in a sumptuous rose gold attire that marks the brand’s first gold version of the Wild ONE watch. It also marks a new partnership with Swiss-based PX Group which also supplies to the medical and aviation industries. The ethically sourced material is paired with the brand’s black NORTEQ case technology, which sandwiches a rubber shock-resistant centre and a titanium container with sapphire crystal sides that holds the movement in place. If that wasn’t enough, it has been released in a limited run of just 99 pieces, with a final 100th piece due to be auctioned off next year in a bid to raise funds for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Alongside this, however, is the Wild ONE All Black watch. The model shares some characteristics with the rose gold version but brings with it an altogether stealth-like character to the wrist.
The new Norqain Wild ONE All Black Watch
The new All Black version of the Wild ONE is not a limited edition run but it does offer some unique features. It picks up on the same desert theme running throughout the Wild ONE watch collection with the same base specifications as the gold model. These include a 43mm case in black NORTEQ material, an inner shock-absorbent inner section and a titanium container holding the movement within. This execution, however, is inspired by the brooding moon across the desert at night. Its lighter almost grey shades are seen in the hands and the hour markers capture the shadows across the sand dunes, cast by the milky light of the celestial body. The top and bottom sections of the rubber shock absorber constitute a watch that looks and feels altogether stealthy. Its design has been shock tested to 5000g, resulting in a high-performance sport watch for every daring outdoor challenge.
The dial of the new Norqain Wild ONE All Black watch is embossed with the familiar Mandala-like surface pattern. It gives texture and an added dimension to the design. This surface is formed on top of a three-level laser-cut dial in the same way as the Gold Limited Edition model. Its black plated hands travel discreetly across the black textured dial, executed in a skeletonised finish. Diamond-cut skeletonised hour markers in black complete the design of the dial alongside a blacked-out Norqain logo underneath the 12 o’clock location.
The surface of the watch’s dial is protected by a flat double-treated anti-reflective and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal glass front. The same material is also used for the back of the watch, where a Manufacture movement is shown off. The Calibre NN20/1 has been developed by Kenissi and produces an impressive 70-hour power reserve once fully wound. It is also chronometer-certified and performs at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a total of 27 jewels. Its special Norqain oscillating rotor is an added bonus and is exposed through a sapphire crystal caseback.
The new Wild ONE All Black watch also features the signature plate on the side of the case that bears the successful Norqain name upon its surface. This feature is met with a sapphire crystal glass front, a screw-down crown over-moulded with black rubber bearing the Norqain logo and a black rubber strap. The strap itself has been manufactured from animal cruelty-free rubber and features a Milanese-effect surface pattern and a matching black NORTEQ buckle to promise a secure fit against the wrist.
