Italo Fontana’s passion for diving is integral to the U-BOAT brand. A new model launched this year, pays tribute to professional diving with a design that can withstand the rigorous underwater demands. Their unique, bold Italian style is very much present within the instrument design with their oversized numerals and robust cases.
U-BOAT revisit the 2011 edition of the Classico U-1001. Firstly, the size of the watch face has been reduced slightly replacing the large 55mm diameter to 47mm. Made from titanium, the new design has a completely different feel with blue indices, stencil numerals and pointed hour and minute hand tips.
Limited to 300 pieces, the new edition reaches 1001 metres underwater, which is written in white, bold numerals from 12 to 3 o’clock; a unique feature that stands out against the the black canvas and blue markings. As the pressure changes, a hidden helium escape valve and a double screw-down crown underneath the huge signature crown cap protects the instrument from any damage. The bezel which is fixed with four screws holds the 6.4mm thick sapphire glass in place. The side of the case showcases the sapphire glass as it is wedged between the case and the bezel. The diameter, case material and exclusivity is etched into the glass for a stunning finish.
Secure the U-BOAT Watch Classico 1001 Titanium Blue Limited Edition to the wrist with the rubber strap. With a Kodiak water-repellent treatment the strap is well suited to professional diving and has a quick release device to change to a stainless steel bracelet if required.
