Thursday - 30 June 2016
Last night Bremont proudly launched their newest Limited Edition to eager watch connoisseurs worldwide. The anticipation was building as Bremont unveiled the DH-88 at their spectacular evening event, solely dedicated to the new stunning release. Of course, Bremont delivered with an exquisite masterpiece and an inspirational influence meeting high expectations from industry experts and horological devotees.
The Bremont DH-88 pays tribute to the world’s greatest air race and in particular, the astonishing de Havilland DH-88 Comet. The red beauty excelled in the treacherous air-race from England to Australia in 1934 by phenomenally breaking flight records becoming a legendary tale in aviation. Two pilots - Scott and Black - flew the stunning British aircraft to success beating exhaustion by hardly stopping over the three day stretch and overcoming important mechanical challenges.
The aircraft’s journey is the perfect pairing for Bremont due to sharing the same core values and qualities. The comet showcases tremendous British engineering that truly deserves its legacy in aviation history. The new release celebrates the craftsmanship by echoing the high standard through its execution; an unstoppable duo. Capturing the world’s imagination for over 80 years ago, the fascinating race and iconic aircraft remain alive today through the superb Limited Edition.
The hazardous flight from England to Australia was a challenge that many legendary aviators strived to achieve throughout the golden age of aviation. In 1919, the Smith brothers finished the journey in 27 days and 20 hours, which was constantly challenged with the time reducing significantly. By 1934, the route was completed in just over seven days and therefore, the ground breaking three day timing was hailed a miracle.
The DH-88 Limited Edition is extremely durable and precise remaining true to Bremont’s reputation in the watchmaking industry. An exclusive, special touch is the inclusion of the original spruce plywood taken from the undercarriage assembly of the aircraft that led the team to victory; an unbelievable and rare feature of the Bremont masterpiece. The manufacture of the exclusive watch was intricately handcrafted in the brands workshops based in England. Delivering an elegant design that yearns for the 1930s era, the Limited Edition is an exquisite instrument that absorbs the essence of aviation during this period. The timepiece is available with a stunning 282 stainless steel or a beautiful 82 rose gold case. Both host the intricately finished BE-54AE chronometer rated chronograph movement with GMT functionality.
Limited to a mere 282, the Bremont DH-88 has a powerfully beautiful essence as it sits on the wrist. Making a strong, sophistication presence in the industry with an exciting aviation spirit that leaps from the exquisite masterpiece the Limited Edition can be hailed as an extraordinary instrument; an exceptional design that cements Bremont’s identity in the watchmaking and aviation world!
