Nomos Glashutte Tangente Bauhaus Limited Edition Watch Review
Friday - 07 September 2018
Next year – 2019 – marks a century of Bauhaus! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate than a trio of limited editions that showcase beautiful design. Turning one hundred years old is truly impressive and can’t slip by unnoticed especially as an important part of design history. Nomos’ iconic Tangente model was chosen for this special kind of makeover due to many naming it as a ‘Bauhaus watch’ – a true honour. Think three colours, all made in three different sizes to a limitation of 100 pieces each.
Taking inspiration from the colour theory of the design school, the trio of designs features the primary colours. Red, yellow or blue circles the edge of the dial that is the shade of sketch paper; a tribute to the German school of architecture, design and applied arts that was opened shortly after the first world war in 1919. In fact, Nomos impressively took the time to study the sketchbooks of the Bauhaus masters whilst designing their latest release. The ring of colour highlights the basic principle of a watch – that time is only depicted by a circle.
The series consists of three sizes – 33, 35 and 38mm. Nomos gives the wearer the chance to choose a size that fits their wrist perfectly. Each design follows Nomos’ signature style of clear lines, square angles and their famous typography. The special edition is of course, straightforward, functional and truly beautiful. We would expect nothing less from the German brand.
Turn the limited edition to find a stainless steel caseback with a special engraving that honours the century of Bauhaus in addition to the limited editon numbering. The case safely houses the manual winding caliber Alpha, handcrafted in Glashutte that measures 2.6mm in height, known for its accuracy and reliability.
The Nomos Glashutte Tangente Bauhaus Limited Edition is a celebration of German design and history. The art school was famous for its approach to design, which Nomos is also recognised for.
