The new Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream watch is a menage of colours that reflect the glistening blue waters of Nassau, whilst at the same time, delivering all the functionality one would expect of a classic dive watch.

Whilst the references to Nassau may be tastefully and discreetly done, there is no escaping that captivating dial. The Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream is, as its namesake suggests, a dream to wear on the wrist and whether you’ve been lucky enough to experience the heavenly location of Nassau or not, constitutes a remarkably unique timepiece to own. It may take you a few moments to notice that the rounded edges on the hour markers and the hands evoke the softly rounded edges of rocks under the water’s surface. Ariel, founder of aBlogtoWatch explains in a little more depth about the message behind the new Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream watch:

“For my Super Sea Wolf design, I wanted to not only create a distinctive color palette but also a revised dial that matched my own personal tastes as someone who has been collecting watches for nearly 20 years…I want this watch to take me back to Nassau and the same state of mind whenever I look at it — anyone who has seen these blues and greens under the waves will be immediately transported to the shallows, as well.”

Recreating the iridescent waters found in Nassau, the new Zodiac Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream Special Edition watch features a brushed and polished stainless steel case that measures a compact and comfortable 40mm diameter. Sitting at a height of 13.6mm, the watch certainly creates a presence without being a hindrance. The top of the case features an aquamarine-coloured mineral glass bezel with a legible dive scale on it that turns unidirectionally, enabling the wearer to keep on track of remaining time underwater without running the risk of increasing his dive time. Instead, the bezel only rotates in an anti-clockwise motion and is made super easy to facilitate thanks to notches around the edges. The pip on the zero location found on this unidirectional rotating bezel is also filled with Super-LumiNova that glows richly in the dark.

Turning the case of the new Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream watch over reveals an enclosed steel caseback with an enamel-filled disc. Ariel’s own handwriting is depicted in the “I’d Rather be Something” lettering in a light blue shade against a deep blue coloured enamel backdrop. The decorative disc is set into a brushed stainless steel caseback that also features the Zodiac lettering and logo as well as the 200M water-resistant detailing.

Beneath the sealed caseback and decorative enamel disc of the Special Edition Zodiac Super Sea Wolf watch is a powerful automatic movement that is not only COSC-certified but developed by Fossil group’s STP manufacture in Basel, Switzerland. The self-winding STP 3-13 Calibre is capable of performing at a rate of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a useful running time of 44 hours once fully wound. The movement comes complete with a swan-neck regulator to improve mechanical performance, making this Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream dive watch a particularly affordable option given its appealing price tag.

Delving a little more into detail, Ariel Adams explains:

“The opportunity for inspiration came in 2019 when I was travelling to the island of Nassau in the Bahamas. An aBlogtoWatch community member won a giveaway promotion we did with Zodiac, and I spent several hours a day in the water wearing a variety of Zodiac watches. While in the water, I kept looking at the distinctive Caribbean shades of aquamarine on the seafloor. The colors were beautiful, soothing, and natural. I took some pictures and knew then that I wanted to create a Zodiac timepiece that celebrated that view and reminded me of swimming off those inviting shores.”

The turquoise blue-green shades of the dial perfectly capture the essence of this functional luxury dive tool, with Super-LumiNova material applied to the baton and rectangular markers as well as the central hands to ensure that time credentials stand out in dark conditions. The watch is also fitted with a stainless steel bracelet, with links executed in a mix of polished and fine-brushed surfaces to match the case. In the same way that the screw-in crown of this Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream watch is adorned with the Zodiac logo engraved upon its surface, so has the butterfly clasp that firmly secures the bracelet to the wrist before taking to the water. The classic dive watch also comes with an additional turquoise-coloured perforated rubber strap with a pin buckle fastening for adding an extra shot of colour to the wrist.
