For 2020, Baume et Mercier have revealed their latest range of Baume et Mercier Hampton watches that showcase new silhouettes, shapes and styles to pay tribute to the legendary architectural movement of the 1920s. Designed for both men and women, their stunning rectangular shaped cases, intricately detailed dials and carefully engineered Swiss made movements perfectly capture the watchmaking expertise and contemporary style that the brand has long been recognised for since its founding in 1830.
The Art Deco period first began in Europe, most notably Paris, in the early years of the 20th century, but it didn't really take hold until after World War I. The movement emerged with its geometric designs, chevron patterns and perfect symmetry that captured the attention of elegant men and women everywhere, and still a decade later, these aesthetics manage to captivate luxury timepiece wearers. Baume et Mercier Hamptons Mens
Baume et Mercier know that every gentlemen is different in personality, taste, and wrist size so they have released the Hampton Mens in three variations and two case sizes: 43 x 27.5 mm (medium) and 48 x 31 mm (large). Both sizes are available in stunning stainless steel with sapphire crystal glass case backs where you can witness the refined circular-grained bridges, sand-blasted snailed base plate and the skeletonised oscillating rotor of the self-winding movement adorned with the famous Cotes de Geneve decoration.
The silver-tone and grained dials with various opaline textures are also protected by domed sapphire crystal and adorned with contemporary Arabic numerals at the 12 o’clock position, riveted indexes and darkened sword shaped hour and minute hands. Retaining the pure forms and perfectly balance proportions expected of an Art-Deco inspired timepiece, the Baume et Mercier Hampton Mens collection come presented on luxurious alligator leather straps available in trendy hues such as brown, grey and navy blue and are fitted with adjustable triple folding buckle with security push-pieces with polished finishes.
Each of the three new Baume et Mercier Hampton Mens watches showcase different functionality, the first model 10522 brings to life classic central hands for hours, minutes and seconds with a 38 hours power reserve powered by the ETA 2671 calibre. The second model 10528, also powered by the same ETA movement, includes a subsidiary seconds dial and date window at 6 o’clock with a 42 hour power reserve. Lastly, model 10523 provides additional functionality powered by the Soprod TT651 calibre with a large date window at 12 o’clock, central hand dual time, small seconds with a day-night indicator at 6 o’clock and a 42 hour power reserve.

Still honouring the subtle fluidity, softness and clear visibility of time, the Baume et Mercier Hampton Ladies collection plays with a variety of colour and materials including diamond dot indices, blue sunray dials and a collection of eleven additional calfskin straps in radiant hues: ocean, coral, turquoise, lime, green, black, orchid, mauve, passionfruit, poppy and mango, not to mention a light brown wrap-around strap with cream overstitching.
Available in just one elegant size of 34.1mm by 22.0mm, the Hampton Ladies watches are presented in stunning polished stainless steel with a choice of breathtaking dial designs to choose from including a gorgeous diamond set dial in white mother-of-pearl, an opaline silver with rose gold gilt accents and a sunray satin-polished blue dial. These combinations of colours, particularly when paired with the luxurious calfskin leather straps, truly bring back the spirit, hues, and shapes of the Art Deco movement. The watches are also driven by a new-generation quartz movement with an optimised 7-year reliability, the MHH057 calibre, which provides classic and simple central hands for hours and minutes.
