A Peek at the New Nomos Club Campus Nonstop Red and Endless Blue Watches
Thursday - 14 March 2024
A fire truck red and turquoise blue dial is now available in the Club Campus range by Nomos – a collection that continues to expand its offerings of wacky, vivid colours.
If you thought Nomos watches were all about disciplined, monochromatic Bauhaus-inspired watches, it’s time you met the brand’s other side. It’s alter ego. The side that shines the brightest – the Club Campus side. Last year, the German watch manufacturer released some Club Campus models in Cream Coral and Electric Green colours. They made for a stunning addition to a Spring wardrobe. Before that came the Deep Pink and Blue Purple iterations. And, when it can be commonplace for a brand to release many of its models in the same safe colours, it’s a refreshing change to see a company like Nomos fully embrace the excitement that can be had in experimenting with colour. The brand is clearly harnessing the youthful nature of the Club Campus with these vibrant and exciting colour variations, including the latest to arrive in the collection - the Nonstop Red and Endless Blue.
The Nomos Club Campus has gained quite a loyal following over recent years. It has a set of features that are instantly identifiable. In fact, if you were to blindfold a person and tell them that the watch you were wearing was a polished sub-38mm case with Roman and Arabic numerals with an in-house hand-wound movement and a colourful dial with a contrasting 6 o’clock sub-dial- they’re likely to guess correctly that it’s a Nomos Club Campus! The line is incredibly popular with seasoned collectors. With a nice mix of clean cases, playful hour markers and bold colours – the Bauhaus-inspired style of the Club Campus is now shifting to a more cosmopolitan edge and collectors, new and experienced, can’t get enough of it.
The Bauhaus-Inspired Sports Watch
If there is one thing that the Nomos Club watch stands out for, it’s a sporty aesthetic. The models from the collection make for incredibly robust companions thanks to their stainless steel and sapphire crystal glass case constructions. Youthful and sporty, the models combine the simple with elegant Bauhaus-inspired aesthetics. Nomos Club watches look perfect with both casual and professional attire. Their polished stainless steel cases come integrated with a maximum of 200-meter water resistance and feature hour tracks that combine Arabic numerals and Roman markers. The hour markers draw inspiration from the signs found along American highways.
Within the collection are bold dial colours that come in a choice of automatic and manual winding versions. Each movement is developed in-house and fitted with the Nomos Swing System. The Club Campus watches, however, are driven by the brand’s Alpha movement, which measures a mere 2.6mm in thickness. Campus models are also distinguishable for their half-and-half dials. The top of the display is where the Arabic numeral hour markers are positioned, while the bottom half of the dial is where the Roman numerals reside. The layout is somewhat playful, despite the disciplined, clean and simplified Bauhaus-inspired undertones that are still evident throughout the series.
The New Nomos Club Campus Nonstop Red and Endless Blue Watches
If you’re familiar with the design language of the Club Campus – there will be no surprises for you here. The surface of the case has been beautifully polished to enhance the neat and tidy proportions of the 36mm option and the 38.5mm option. Measuring a thickness of 8.2mm and 8.5mm, these watches slip under the sleeve of a shirt effortlessly and constitute a very easy-to-wear design. These days, the Nomos Club has relatively longer lugs for a more elegant finish. A push-pull crown is located at the 3 o’clock location on the case. Its easy grip design is perfect for manually winding the movement. Although not a screw-down design, the case of these new Nonstop Red and Endless Blue Club Campus watches is equipped with 100-meter water resistance. Helping to uphold this level of water resistance, the domed anti-glare sapphire crystal glass front plays an important part in the design.
When taking a closer look at the dial, you’ll see that the layout and design of the dial are faithful to the rest of the collection. The Arabic numerals feature from 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock, alternating with stick indices. Then, from 3 o’clock to 9 o’clock, Roman numerals combine with stick indices to complete the track. The straight hour and minute hands have been treated with a strip of luminous material running down the middle. These accompany a small second sub-dial with a hand executed in the Campus's signature orange colour. The orange stands out very little in the Nonstop Red version but massively in the Endless Blue version.
The Nonstop Red dial looks almost fire truck red and features light blue for the hour marker trims and the numerals on the minute track. The Endless Blue version is almost turquoise in colour. As mentioned, the dial has received a contrasting splash of orange on the subsidiary second hand, while the outlines of the hour markers are executed in a purple shade. The minute track numerals, however, are finished in a pastel green.
As mentioned earlier, the Club Campus watches are powered by the Alpha movement. If you opt for the sapphire back version in either of these two dial colours you get to admire the movement as it performs inside the case. It boasts Nomos perlage and Glashutte ribbing upon its components, as well as blued screws and a few of its 17 jewels. If you decide to opt for the fully screwed-in caseback however, you get to enjoy the option of a possible engraving, personally etched into its surface to mark a special occasion.
Whether you choose the Nomos Club Campus Nonstop Red or Endless Blue option, both models come on a grey velour strap and a polished stainless steel buckle engraved with the Nomos name.
