Oris has paid tribute to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) of Australia with a limited edition timepiece.
The Oris Royal Flying Doctor Service Limited Edition watch honours the aero-medical and primary healthcare provided by the RFDS. It is the most comprehensive aero-medical service in the world, with a fleet of 61 aircraft, 21 aeromedical bases and five remote primary health care facilities. More than 14,000 health clinics are delivered by the RFDS across Australia each year.
The timepiece is limited to 2,000 pieces, and was developed in collaboration with the RFDS. It has a functional orange pulsation scale on the dial of the watch, to aid doctors in reading the pulse of their patients. A stainless steel screw-in crown at 4 o'clock controls the time settings, and a screw-in crown at 2 o'clock (decorated with a silhouette of Australia) operates an inside turning dial ring for a second time zone, showing time zone changes of half an hour.
The Oris Royal Flying Doctor Service Limited Edition is powered by automatic Oris movement calibre 735. A day window is found at 3 o'clock on the black dial, and a date window is positioned between 4 and 5 o'clock.
The watch has a 44 mm stainless steel case, a double domed sapphire with with anti-reflective coating, and a mineral crystal case back. The case back is engraved with 'Oris Royal Flying Doctor Service Limited Edition' and the limited number, as well as the RFDS logo. It is water resistant to 100 metres, and comes with a dark brown leather strap or stainless steel bracelet.
