Anniversaries are usually marked with a bunch of flowers, a piece of exquisite jewellery, a meal for two or romantic card to honour the years gone by. Yet to pay tribute to a historic event as significant as the Battle of Britain, Breitling launch a stunning timepiece as a special token to demonstrate that those who struggled and fought are not forgotten; an appropriate offering from a watch brand who nourish a strong and passionate relationship with aviation. A 75th anniversary that honours the victory, loss, struggle and fight of 1940…………….
It is the Breitling Navitimer that wears the badge of honour with pride and remembrance; a perfect candidate that does not crumble from the pressure. The 75 year anniversary is referred to on the sub dials positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock; a special addition that is clear to see and only available in a limitation of………..? You guessed it 75!!! The anniversary crest is visible on the case back to further remind of the special date.
The Battle of Britain took place between July and October 1940 where Britain endured an attack from Germany to win air superiority over Southern Britain and the English Channel. Many lives were lost fighting to protect Britain that will never be forgotten; as will those who survived the terrible ordeal. Breitling has cherished a strong relationship with the RAF since the 1930s, dating back to their on-board flight chronographs that were installed in World War Two aircrafts. It is their duty to continue this bond by ensuring that a portion of the Navitimer wristwatch sales will be donated to the RAF Benevolent Fund who support Battle of Britain veterans and their families.
Gavin Murphy, Managing Director for Breitling UK, explains: "Aviation and Breitling go hand in hand. On the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, what may be the last opportunity to commemorate a significant anniversary with those remaining of 'The Few,' we recognise those brave airmen who valued and pursued excellence, above all else and ultimately in the name of their country.”
"We are proud of our continued partnership with the RAFBF, who provide invaluable support to World War Two veterans and importantly, to current serving members of the RAF who uphold the legacy of the Few, securing the skies today and into the future."
Happy 75th Anniversary!!!! You may want to rethink your next anniversary gift, maybe a Breitling Navitimer would be suitable???
