Raymond Weil Stunning Nabucco Cello Tourbillon Watch Review
Monday - 04 May 2015
Raymond Weil successfully demonstrate their loyalty and passion for music with the Nabucco Cello Tourbillon.
The stunning masterpiece is the first luxury timepiece to take direct influence from the grand, noble instrument - the cello. Elie Bernheim, the founders grandson, is the creative source and reasoning behind the beautiful inspiration due to playing the cello from a young age.
Elie Bernheim claims: “My grandfather’s lifelong love of music combined with my own passion for the cello are the two elements that inspired us to design and develop the nabucco Cello Tourbillon, which is intended as an expression of our brand’s imaginative approach to watch design.”
An innovative approach to watchmaking witnesses fine, clean cut lines; a strong contrast to the gentleness of the musical inspiration. Within the watch platform Raymond Weil successfully celebrate the cello influence harmoniously with the mechanical hand-wound movement that drives the timepiece. The complete musical soul of the luxury watch brand is encompassed within the heart of the device alongside their impressive intricate and complex watchmaking skills.
The Raymond Weil Nabucco Cello Tourbillon reveals its precision and accuracy with sapphire crystals on both sides; the transparent exposure is a truly remarkable feature that creates a striking effect. The slender hands are purposely formed in the shape of a cello bow and the five engraved lines in the bezel that encircle the dial reflect the musical stave. The four taught strings that are stretched across the dial perfectly echoes the musical instrument alongside the f-hole shaped bridges. The musical references transform the watch dial into a stunning, breathtaking piece.
Each musical feature of the innovative timepiece was designed, researched and manufactured in-house by the expert Raymond Weil team who strive to create unique, striking and functional masterpieces of a high calibre. Spectators are reassured that the beauty that oozes from the instrument is matched equally in technical advancement. The lightweight watch manufactured from steel and titanium with an oversized 46mm diameter accommodates the rotating cage effortlessly.
To compliment the subtle yet powerful Cello Tourbillon, Raymond Weil continue to reference the musical influence with the presentation of the timepiece. Creating a box that reflects the high quality and craftsmanship of a traditional, hand-made cello, the timekeeper sits grandly between four taught strings and f-hole shapes to continue their celebration of music and timekeeping.
