TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph Watch Review
Monday - 06 April 2015
TAG Heuer commemorates their 30 year partnership with McLaren with the launch of a striking Limited Edition timepiece.
The “Rocket Red” accent colour that forms a strong stripe on the NATO strap and a bold aluminium bezel featuring the tachometer function stands for speed, challenge, victory and passion; all attributes that form the DNA of TAG Heuer. The Swiss watch brand’s passion for motor racing drives the loyal relationship with McLaren resulting in a collaboration that has endured three decades marked by the TAG Heuer Formula 1 chronograph.
The tomato red shade is a direct reference to the McLaren’s 1985 campaign together with the brand name proudly engraved on the bezel. To celebrate the duration of the partnership the number 30 stands on the minute track; a symbolic reference to the anniversary and ultimately the inspiration behind the watch. The black and red striped strap provides a sporty aesthetic to the timepiece, which is comfortable and easy to wear.
To ensure precision the quartz chronograph is accurate to a tenth of a second, which is displayed on the small counter at 6 o’clock. In addition, the chronograph minute counter is positioned at 9 o’clock whilst the current seconds counter is sat at 3 o’clock. To focus on the power of speed the three snailed counters purposely contrast against the opaline black dial successfully reflecting back the light to provide the illusion of speed and refer to the motor racing influence at the heart of TAG Heuer. A final stylish nod to the 30 year partnership is the profile view engraving of an MP4 originating from 1985 on the 316L case back.
