Introducing new NOMOS Tetra Watches for 2023

Subtle shades of lilac and purple offer an unusual take on Spring in this new quartet of Tetra watches from Nomos

It should be the way that Spring is now in the rear-view mirror and Summer is ahead of us, but we are a little late with things like that here in the UK. When the British weather is letting you down and all you want to do is envisage Spring time, this is the way to do it. Nomos has released its latest set of four new Tetra watches inspired by the colours of Spring but not in the way we normally know it. Whilst trees get greener here in England, in Japan the blossoming Magenta buds get pinker. It seems that the Japanese phenomenon has now infiltrated the German way of making watches. Nomos refers to the colours of its new Tetra watch releases for 2023 as more of a global vision of Spring but it’s hard to ignore the familiarities in shades of pink and lilac here. They are dramatic and eye-catching yet are held firmly into place by the understated presence of the square-shaped case known as the Tetra style. These geometrical cases are composed yet playful and will appeal to those outside the Nomos-collecting circle, as well as those dedicated to the brand and all its beautiful Bauhaus-style wristwatches.

The new 2023 Nomos Tetra watches are identical in design to the hand-winding Tetra watches released before. The main difference here, however, is the slightly smaller case of 29.5mm as opposed to the 33mm case size. The watches are driven by the famous in-house manufactured Alpha movement. The last additions added to the Tetra line were inspired by the warm colours of Autumn, so it appears there may be a continuation of a theme here. The pale pink and purple shades of the new releases have pops of contrasting colour that add further details to the dials. Namely, these are the small second hands, which are executed in a totally different colour to the play on pink and purple nuances of the range.

The Silvercut version of the new Nomos Tetra design features a grey-silver shade that looks lilac-like under the light and is executed in a sunray finish across the surface of the dial, whilst the small second sub-dial is presented in a soft lipsick pink colour. The Rose version features the reverse effect of the Silvercut watch – a pink main dial with a shimmering silver sub-counter for the small seconds. Then there’s the Nude model with a silver sub-dial in the same finish as seen in the Rose. The last model, the Aubergine Tetras watch by Nomos, has a rose gold or brassy-coloured sub-dial. As aforementioned, the hand of these small counters is always executed in a pop of colour. Light blue for the darker Silvercut and Aubergine models, and yellow for the Rose and Nude watches.

These perfect pinks and lilacs for the season couldn’t be any more fitting right now, yet what makes them so much more appealing is the fact that these models will complement a winter wardrobe too. The black and golden shades of the Arabic numeral hour markers of the Silvercut and Aubergine watches respectively are a really nice touch, whilst on the Nude and Rose Tetra watches, they can be found in a brown shade. The clashes of colour in these new Nomos Tetra watches are tastefully and carefully done by master artists at the Glashutte-based company. Each of the new models is offered with a sapphire-backed case where you can appreciate the beautiful performance and decoration of the Alpha Calibre behind a crisp and clear glass window, or a solid stainless steel caseback version to match the material. This option can be used as a spacious canvas for engraving a personalised message upon.

The new Nomos Tetra Silvercut, Rose, Nude and Aubergine watches are all fitted on a classy grey vegan velour strap with a stainless steel pin buckle. The 30-meter water-resistant cases sit at a height of 6.3 and can be purchased here at Jura Watches today.
